Parents of upper primary in SJI Junior,

        Need your advice.
Do they need an electronic dictionary in school?
Which level do they start to use it?
        Bulk purchased by school?
        What is the recommended model?

        Thanks in advance!
The boys will need the electronic dictionary at P3, when they start composition writing. Quite useful.

You can look out for these models

        Hansvision PX 2051 (Creative)
Besta All Pass 1 (don't buy other Besta models, because they are not allowed in the exams)

There's another Creative model which I cant rem the model number.

Last year, the school had a 2 day book fair and the dictionaries were sold. This year will have to wait. Perhaps you can get from outside book stores.

Considering SJI and ACS Barker. What’s the difference between the 2 in terms of education and CCA? I understand that SJI is Catholic compared to ACS which is Methodist.

May I know if there are parents here whose kids are enrolled in SJI Junior and have mild autism or Asperger’s syndrome? I will appreciate if you can share if the kids are adjusting well in school and whether the exam pressures are just too much in SJI Junior. Much appreciated!

                  Hi all

I am keen to enrol my son in sjij. I’ve read that sji doesn’t accept New PV of non students is that right?

I’m not a catholic. Hence does it mean my only only chance is in Phase 2c?
                  I’m living 1-2km

Technically, yes only at Phase 2C if not Catholic nor PV. But you can try serving in grassroots if you live within the same constituency as SJIJ. That will get you into Phase 2B.

                      Thank u for your reply.

Sjij is not within my constituency leh. Sob sob.

                      May I ask then,
If I secure a place at sch A in phase 2b, can I monitor phase 2c sjij and on the last day if there’s good chance 1-2km balloting, can I withdraw fr sch A and try sjij

Sure you can. However, most years, SJIJ ballots at Phase 2C for 1-2km and sometimes within 1km even. So it's better for you to get a seat in Sch A first, esp if it's not bad. If you decide to take the risk at SJIJ, you must be OK with a backup school such as St Gabriel's.

BTW, this is a parents networking thread for parents with kids already in SJIJ. You should take your discussion to the Novena schools thread in the Primary Schools selection thread.
