        TheAnswer,

ds came back with his school practice paper a few days ago.....
You are very accurate, his maths dropped 10marks exactly!
        LOL

SA1 papers will be tougher. Prepare early for Maths and Science. SA1 will also include certain P4 topics. Perhaps it's time to refresh the topics again.

how to guess which topics from p4, p3 will be tested.cannot revise all.no time to do that. this term circulatory and respiratory systems of plants and humans, cells.i can guess p4 plant and human sytem would be tested.but i cannot guess what other topics related.so wait for t inform.its about one two weeks before exam.

I never thought of guessing what will be tested. As a tutor, I just make sure that I revise with them all the P4 topics and the P5 topics before the exam. If there is a will, there is a way. I squeeze in time to test them as well.

No parent will accept the reasoning that I have insufficient time to revise all. They pay me, I make sure it’s properly done. If I wait until the topics are out, I am afraid when the results come out, it’s impossible to accept them.

I prepare a study timetable and remind their parents to make sure they follow them. Time management is the key. If its an issue now, it’s time to address it before the child progresses to P6.

You may find it hard to accept what I say but this is what I practice in my 10 years of teaching. I know it works.

          All the best!

                Smartmummy,

It is difficult spot questions or topics… even if you spot correctly, it’s only for 1 paper/ exam, it’s not a long term solution.

Just find out where are the weak areas and focus on it.

                  Good morning smartmummy!

I will let him do assessments on p3/4 topics whenever he is free ( but hardly).
Will go thru with him if he ans wrongly. He will never read past yr notes on his own.

I use ultimate PSLE science guide from EPH. Each lesson I will allocate some pages for reading (about 10 pages of a specific topic) which the student will read after tuition.

The next lesson I will do question and answer with the student and point out the important phrases and concepts which the school will focus on testing them. After the verbal Q and A is completed. I will select a few short answer questions which the student will complete in my presence. I will correct them immediately and re-emphasize the application of concepts again. This time I will set the topic as the homework. The process (P4 revision) is approximately 45 mins.

As my lessons are for 2 hrs each, the remaining time is focused on P5 syllabus. Revising the current topic in school and recap the previous P5 topics.

 I don't think you should be guessing at all!! Question-spotting is not for primary school. If he is guessing at P5, he will be drowning in P6.
