All About Preparing For PSLE

There are parents who will go to that extreme…to make sure their kids go to top schools…RI or RGS for example. Pity these kids, bcos they are studying for their parents’ face…for parents to brag.
My cane is when they misbehave…and I do ask them if they know why they are caned. Talking back, telling lies etc etc…definitely for those reasons. -
As a kid, I was slapped by my dad only once when I was 4 years old. It caused me a bad nose bleed. Now more than 20 years down the road. I still remember it. It’s how much impact it caused me.

The heat is definitely on...once PSLE dates are confirmed, registration fee next followed by payment for PSLE booklets 2008-2012 and past year exam papers. All the best for 2013 kids and parents. -

The pressure to excel is so intense. It's really pitiful for kids...and heartbreaking to have to push them. But as parents, we have to know how/when to let go when we know kids have reached their peak. I always remind myself this, 'stretch a rubber band beyond and it will snap'.

the fact is, sad to say, some parents refused to admit reality that not all kids can be rocket scientist or doctor…. they continue to push the poor child over the edge!.. It was so sad to see some parents aiming for Raffles even though their children not even primary!... someone we know, both parents are very very high flyers, C-level in MNCs, of course they spends $thousands per month for enrichment classes since kids were very young as early as 2 -3 years old….however the reality is the kids just couldn’t fulfill their parents’ aspirations……paid $millions to buy house near RPGS….the poor gals are now in "good" secondary school as what our minister Heng says, every school is a good school…… But not what their parents want them to be in the "IP school"…now, one of the child had gone over the edge is becoming more rebellious by the days…………that child speaks " French = F" very frequently, sad to say their parents never say or use the "fishie" words….the poor child just pick it up from nowhere!
just sharing, know your child limitations…….accept who they are and not what you want them to be! give unconditional loves…… -

Superd! Success breeds success. Celebration is a way of recognising the child's effort (regardless of the marks)! I can imagine how happy your DS is.
I think it is unacceptable to cane the child if he did not get a prefect score. Young kids need a lot of encouragement. My boy received his results for CA1. His marks were commendable although he did not receive 100 marks for every subject. It was close enough. My boy was the one who was upset as he lost 2 marks due to careless mistakes for his Maths paper. DH and I took him out to celebrate. Kids also need to relax. We just surprised DS with breakfast at Swensons todayngl2010:
My son told me that his one of his classmates got 3 strokes of cane because he only got 99.5 instead of 100 in CA Maths recently :yikes: I told my son maybe if I start canning him, his result will be 99.5. I told him that it is cheaper to buy a cane than paying for tuition :rotflmao: :rotflmao: The form teacher knows about the canning but cannot do anything.
Some parents are really too much :siao: although that particular student has 2 brothers managed to get into RI. It is enviable but I myself won't like to be canned so why should I cane my son? :siao:
