      Hi all!

I'm hoping to pick your brains on this: if you can get a spot in either NYPS of St Nicholas Girls, which would you choose?...
They are both excellent schools. If I'm you, I would choose my alma mater in this case.

          Hi Clare,

In your case, I would choose NYPS for logistics reasons since you have both a DS and DD.

Ah... thanks ChiefKiasu. I'm leaning towards that too, but one day she may blame me for not sending her to a co-ed school when it comes to P1 registration for her kids

Wow, I AM kiasu and I didn't know it!

The way to solve her problem is to marry a husband from the right alma mater and not to blame on grandma's decision.

Hi Clare, in your position, my choice would have been NYPS. The reason being, I was from one of the so-called branded girls' school along Bukit Timah while hubby hailed from a neighbourhood school. Unfortunately as my little one is a boy, I'm unable to leverage on my connection to my alma mater which means this mummy will probably need to be a PV in order to earn a chance in getting into a school of her choice..... sigh....

Just to share...don't be overly deluded that your kids will go to the same primary school becos it is co-ed. I was told by a friend, even tho her first is now in NYPS, she could not send her second one there becos the second most likely could not fit the system. This is a discerning parent who does not push her kid into the wrong end. So it is not with certainty that NYPS will solve your co-ed school's issue for mixed gender siblings.

How true! One more criterion to check when 'choosing' a spouse hahahahahahaha!

Hi happypoppy, how old is your little one? If he's a preschooler, better start the long process of shortlising schools and applying to be a PV soon šŸ™‚ I totally missed the chance to apply to be a PV at the girls' schools in the Bt Timah area; regretting it mightily now!

                      clare

gosh, this is embarrassing...... my boy is still a wee little baby (< 1 yr old). haha.... that's how kiasu his mummy is.....

                        Hi,

I've just been accepted to the Nanyang Primary voluntary program (80 hours!), but I'm now having a second thought if Nanyang is really where I want to send my 1st son into.

Basically I want him to go to a good mixed school to allow his baby sister to get in easily when the time comes for her to get to Primary School.

There's no school within 1 km from where I live (Jervois Rd), and as we are Singapore PR, there's no existing relationship with any schools as yet. Nanyang is a bit further, but River Valley Primary is slightly further than 2 km from where we live.

Can anyone shed some light here? I'd welcome any insight, comments, etc.

                        Thanks,
                        N.
