I think your boy is very subtle already. My girl asked me point blank \"Mummy, why do AAA and BBB have maids at home, but we don't? AAA Mummy not working also have maid, you are working why we don't have maid? Then I don't need to clean my room! :skeptical: \"

ya, my girl also ask me: 'Daddy, why don't you buy a car so that you can drive me to school like aaa or bbb does?'

my answer to her is: \"Dear, why do you need me to drive you to school when i can walk you to school everyday?\"

nowadays, the kids know how to compare.

i am trying to tell my kids that driving in Singapore is very expensive. We can get by with public transport and taxis.

                  sigh....

how about those crane operators earning $7k a month that our MPs lamented that there is a shortage although the pay is so attractive.

                    any takers?

                    jedamum:
No choice but not skilled, then can't do.
I can't believe that unskilled construction workers can bring home that amount of take home pay.
Those middle age unemployed may have difficulty picking up a specialised trade if they do not have pre interest or base skills eg carpenters. Those young ones, how many will ditch the air con environment to pick up on site skills.
But you are right to state that not many are skilled with their hands. To reach that level of take home for new entrants into that industry, I believe one has to be specialised skilled, if not, very experience to take on extended overtime. Working for long periods of time on site is physically and mentally draining.
So it is not an easily $3000.

Oh well if we compare our kids results with AAA or BBB naturally we would instill the value of comparing to them. Isn't it?
we are not supposed to compare the kids' results, are we?
