DSA 2013

Hi,
Looking at positioning my dd for DSA via band this year. We've shortlisted 2 schools. Now :xedfingers: she will do her best for SA1.
Looking to get quick advice (as the page is now 1470++) on following :
* What should we have ready by now?
* Certified true copy of documents - anyone has experienced with that? Who is qualified to certify? The school? CPA? Lawyer????
* When they talk about submission? Is it physically we've to go to school, send via courier or can we submit via email?? I am alittle concern as I will be travelling during 3rd week of June and I am hoping to have all documents ready/ submitted by early June.
* Testimonial from FT or CCA teachers - when is the best time to do this? Now? Do we usually need both? Wondering if there are templates to follow for this.
* Audition - besides playing the instrument, do they usually ask questions? What kind of questions? -

Just get ready a list of achievements related to your domain of application, your academic results for P5, and various certs.

The school will certify it.

Depends on the school. Some schools just require you to submit online, then show them the certs at a later date. Check the school's website for their requirements.

Testimonials aren't required unless specified. Esp as some primary schools have a policy against writing testimonials for students.
* Audition - besides playing the instrument, do they usually ask questions? What kind of questions? -

Hi jtoh,

The school will certify it.
Thanks!
Meaning the primary school or secondary??? Concern is on stuff like report book. We usually have to return by certain time. -
MMM:
Your child's primary school will certify it. Usually at the general office. For the report book, when you get it, make a photocopy of it then get the general office to certify your photocopied page.

Hi…same question…how about other certificates???
-
If it’s an activity organized by the school or MOE-approved, the school would probably agree to certify it. Just a note that not all DSA schools require certified documents. Some just request to sight the original when you report for interviews.

Edusave Entrance Scholarships for Independent Schools (EESIS)Hi, I'm new in ksp. May I know what is ESIS ?
Can Gep student apply? If so, how to?
Atfer applying does the student need to
apply every yr for six yrs (ip)? Thanks.

The EESIS are awarded up to the top one-third of the total number of Secondary One pupils admitted to all Independent Schools (IS), based on their PSLE results but the cut-off point may differ from year to year, usually around PSLE score 260 & above.
The EESIS is also awarded to P6 GEP pupils who are Singapore Citizens and who
1.meet the P6 GEP promotion criteria, and
2.are enrolled in the IP in an Independent School at S1.
You do not have to apply for it as the qualified students will be informed upon release of PSLE Results. The quantum is S$2,400 per year. The award, once given, is for the whole 6 years period and it is automatically offset against the school fees payable. But the scholar must make good progress each year in order to continue receiving the scholarship. For example, if the school fee is $300 and then $200 will be offsetted, so the net payable through GIRO by you is $100.
You may look up for more info at MOE website under Edusave Scheme.
Hope this helps.
