Meat sauce made with beef tomato, shiitake mushroom, garlic, onion, pork soup, ketchup, oyster sauce

back in the 70s, we used to leave this thing in a bucket outside our flat....now it's called meat sauce!!

        Just kidding! :siam:

wow, your family so rich one ah 😂

I should belong to the same generation - bucket outside the HDB flat for collection to feed the pigs. Those were the days Sg still had pig farms and our pork were tastier than what we have today

In the 70s, I wasn't even born yet. Nebbermind, how old are you?

He should be > 10 years older than you 😉

the meat sauce is as follows:

            1. 4 beef tomato - better to be really ripe so that more juice can be extracted. Boiled to remove the skin and chop into small pieces

            2. garlic - amt up to individual, I use 1/2 clove which is about 5-6 pieces

            3. small onion - amt up to individual, I use 4-5 pieces

            4. Big onion, the red variety- usu. a small one, I did not use this round bcos ran out of big onion, the white variety also can.

            5. 3 fresh shiitake mushroom, chopped

            6. tomato ketchup, abt 2 tbsp

            7. oyster sauce, abut 1 tbsp

            8. a bowl of basic pork soup

            9. 200g of minced pork 夹心肉 not too lean, marinated with minced garlic+ small onion, rice wine and soy sauce and dusted with some cornflour

Ytd, I used the rice cooker to cook the meat sauce.

            1. saute garlic, onion in some oil till fragrant

            2. add in chopped tomato, use the wooden spatula to tear up the tomato pieces. more juices will be extracted this way

            3. add the chopped mushrooms. By now the mixture should be watery. If not enough sauce, add the pork soup, bring to a boil.

            4. Add seasonings - tomato ketchup n oyster sauce. Becos my children do not like heavily seasoned food, my seasonings tend to be on the light side.

            5. In another sauce pan, saute the minced pork till the colour turns. Add into the tomato mixture to cook a little while.

            THE END

I tried the ready to use canned variety from supermkt. But my children rejected those. Hence come up with homemade lightly seasoned verison.
