Hello I am back from South Korea!!!
We covered Jeju and Seoul in 12 days.
I did it F&E and it is much easier as we bring a child around. would like to specifically say that water is not an issue. our family needs plenty of water. both accoodations have water dispenser and free bottled water. you can find dispenser to top up at all food court and eateries.
In Jeju, we stayed in Tae Gong Gak Guest House and had Mr Goh as a taxi driver for 2 full days. Both are excellent! and on third day, we went for submarine tour and laze around. if you stay in TGG, they will arrange a mini van to send you to the submarine tour location to and fro. hassle free. Food for kids are good as well with their recommendation. No regret!
In Seoul, took mUmmy chia recommendation and stayed in Metro HOtel. Absolutely great!!! nothing to complain!!! We spend morning till night in everland and it was awesome with the fireworks. We booked a cab. at 120,000won to and fro from hotel. it was very very ideal (minus the cost), because you dont need to worry about the jam, no need to travel out too early to wait for the tour bus. you can just arrive when the park opens, and stay all the way.
I did not go for private tour bus to everland which may end up bring you to do shopping, or expect you to leave very early from the park. the taxi driver manage to get us the everland tickets (for 3 pax) at 60,000won.
If you want to shop for toys and ok to walk, you can try toy alley. but if you want convenience, can head to Jamsil station for toyrus. we realise it it is not too much more ex, a few dollars difference. moreover, toyrus has discount sometimes.
if you want to shop for children clohhes, go Nandaemun, i made 3 trips there!!! it was reallly cheaper than even Bangkok in my opinion. -
Hi winnieng78
How did you book the air tix to Jeju, from SG or thru the local agents?
Did you go to any spa resort? -

my kids also like the toysrus at jamsil but didnt buy anything there since we bought quite a fair bit from the toy street.
can share how much did Mr Goh charge for 2 days in jeju? though most likely i wont include jeju for my year end since its winter, but will keep for future trip. -
I am oso planning to visit Korea again in early Nov, should be autumn right?
The last time I went was with tour group, very keen to try F&E but have below concerns, if any have any advice/suggestions, please share.
1. My MIL and my friend, both first timers, are going with us this time. The group will become 6. With 2 first timers and with a MIL in tow, I am apprehensive to go F&E in case if itinerary doesn’t suit them or anything not smooth, will I be blamed…
2. There are vegetarians among us. I know its kinda difficult to find vegetarian food in Korea. Anyone who has been there F&E know of any eateries that has vegetarian cuisine?
3. We would like to visit Nami Island, how do we get there? If I really intend to do F&E, can we book local tours there to Nami Island or in Jeju? Is it cheaper to book local tours?
Thanks in advance for any advices. -

personally i would suggest u go for tour package especially since your MIL is going as everything will be taken care of, veg meal & transport. coz there will be lots of walking & if u going to places via their subway where there are mainly only stairs & hardly or no lifts/ elevators, its very tedious for the old folks.
but if u still keen to do F & E, there's a shuttle to nami from insadong & jamsil. u can check out their website for more details. https://www.namisum.com/_ver01/_bbs_iw2000/index2.php
otherwise u can always join their local tour in korea -
mummychia:
Thanks mummychia. I didn't think of the part of stairs and walking. You're right, better that I go with tour package this time. :thankyou:

Hi winnieng 78
Can I check with you on the following:
1)Do you have Mr Goh, the taxi driver's contact?
2)How do you book your air tickets to Jeju & how much?
3)How do you cope with the walking for F & E trip with your child? My children get tired easily with much walking?
4)Do you have your itinerary in detail?
Thanks so much!

mummychia, mr goh charges 120,000won per day, from 9am to 5pm. very very good driver, guide and photographer! we caught cherry blossom in Jeju as it is warmer, excellent!!!
I did a one day tour to Petite France, Nami Island, Garden of MOrning Calm and Strawberry Farm with Sally Tour. I found another couple to share the cost. So with a group of 5 (including my kid), each person paid 135,000won. It covers the transport, guide, entrance fees, ferry and also lunch. Petite France is nice, Nami Island is suberb, garden is below average as the weather is not warm enough yet, not much nice flowers to see. Strawberry farm is no good. the sally tour just bring us to a farm where they happen to have a green house for us to spend 15 to 20 min to pick only… of course, overall, i also dont have much expectation for strawberry farm…
We took korean airline, so booked through Misa, they will handle your jeju tickets too. can ask MIsa to do seats reservation in advance so that to ensure you will all sit together even if we cannot do online check in.Jessie from Misa travel was really great help!!! -
have to give credit to korean airline
for a flight of about 5 hours plus, they serve one round of drink and nuts, a meal, then follow by a drink and snack (like pizza or bread etc).
on return trip there was ice cream too.
compared to japan airline which i took, they only have 1 meal all the way to tokyo. even when i ask for a instant noodle for my kid who was then only 2.5 year old as she was hungry, they have to stress that is only meant for biz class before giving it to me. was inexperienced, thought that for a flight of 7 hours wil get 2 meals. -
Awsome trip for you winn 78! thks for the airline tip tht can get misa to do bookings even to Jeju- save efforts. can share Mr Goh contact? i think his charges is very reasonable. did he recommend u the guest house in Jeju too, how much
