Does being a mom make you generally more of an anxious perso
-
I wish I can go easy on her, but it doesn’t seem possible.
But the colour signio pens do help. I bought her smiggle colour pens (smaller version) for her little hands but pens dry up fast even though I remember her to put cover back when not in use. I see her having to remember so many things and my heart aches…but still have to persevere. -
I think if anything, I become less anxious about a lot of stuff when kids came along. I learned to be more patient and tolerant. I also learned to slow down a lot.
As for kids’ education so far, I find it still manageable. It is getting tougher with DD in upper primary now but we are still taking it in our stride. -

When we ourselves we in P3, were we able to study independantly without our parents nagging at us? Some of us may be more motivated but most of us will still need a parent to prod us along.I worried for my P3 ds who:
1) still cannot study independently. Is it normal?
2)I've to summarize the Science notes for him coz he is someone who refuses to sit still n study.
3) He dislikes drawing model for maths.Modeling is impt to solve difficult math Qs.His teacher said cannot use \"free hand\". If he draws,he also takes very long time.
My DH asks me to relax, but very difficult le.Coz he is not the one who coping wf kiddo's homework, exam n daily physical & mental thingie....
Teach him to make his own Science notes instead of doing it for him. Work together with him the 1st few times and let him decide how he wants to make those notes. Thereafter just oversee it.
My kiddo better still, not only no models but no working either. Answer is correct though. -
That math model is compulsory at p3/4.
I don’t think it is possible to compare our time in primary school and NOW.
P3 is still young…parental guidance still necessary for mine. -

If we are constantly there to remind them and help them follow through, there is no need for them to make the effort to remember and thus it will continue as such.
how NOT to be stressed when you have a child who keeps forgetting?vinegar:

the night before 听写/默写, she could still remember, next day, she forgets dictation.
same here, she hates to draw models for math.
i think there is no need to go on...most mummies here would experience same headaches.
At P1, 1st half, I remind the kids of their spelling and tingxie and I will revise together with them, 2nd half I still remind them but they learn on their own. At P2, they remind me they need me to test them. At P3 onwards, I will still test them but P4, they are on their own.
They tell me their expectations of themselves for tingxie and spelling results, and I tell them mine. They have to strive to meet the lower of the 2 expectations if they do not, we look at what went wrong and adjust our methods. Likewise for the other subjects and tests.
If they forget their work or do badly, they have to face their teachers. If their teachers give us any negative feedback, they will have to face our disappointment but most importantly, I always tell them, the person whom they have failed the most is themselves. At P1/P2, they may not fully understand this, but DD at P4 knows what I mean. Good or bad, it is their results, not mummy's or daddy's. -

I have been tutoring for 10 years. I know the key concepts for science topics at my fingertips. I didn't go through all the assessment books. Not possible to go through all. Time constraint.
Possible to quote an example on how to teach concept using crossword?U mean u create crossword puzzle for ur students?TheAnswer:
Concepts for science can also be taught by using crossword puzzles. Every topic will have some concepts. Pick out those sentences from your guidebook or assessment book.
Turn it into an interesting crossword puzzle.
Most importantly is give him plenty of words of affirmation.
I always tell my students and my son that I trust that they can handle it and I am there if they need help.
U went thru all the assessment books n pick up the frequently asked questions??
His Math teacher said he is not a visual person. She said some students can catch the concepts or solve the math questions very fast, once the models are drawn.
My ds is quite lazy. If he could solve the prob,he rather skip the modeling. Most of the times,he really could solve the problems by skipping the modeling. However,he tends to make careless mistakes by doing so.
The link below shows an assessment book which uses crossword puzzles. I use that as a guide to create my own.

I bought it for my students. From popular. -

They get the list for the whole term at the start right? Why not break down the learning into bits instead of spending so much time at 1 sitting? 10-15 mins every day is what my kiddos do.cindyll:
Yup, stress over educational system, kid's behaviour etc.... :?:
I am trying not to stress her (and myself :frustrated: ) over that 听写/默写 task...this is held on wed...so mon noon 1 hr learn 听写, Tue noon 默写...that's it. Kids are different, so that is tough enough to handle...add on education, you know the rest.
Look, read, write, test. They repeat this about 2-3 times for each sentence. Learning about 3-5 sentence each sitting.
The following day, they test themselves what they have learned the day before and do the look, read, write, test for the next few sentences.
And the method continues until they are ready for me to test them.
DD doesn't require me to test her anymore. At P4 she is on her own. -
My son was on his own at P4 in terms of spelling. P3 I was still a mother hen as there was a jump from p2. My steam has run out and having a daughter who is slow, I am having panic attacks.

Slow as in slow motion or slow as in behind her peers cognitively? -
