You can go to Scoop Of Art, you can do different arts crafty stuff there and just relax when you want to!

I just made a silhouette mural together with my kids to decorate their nursery room door, it was quite simple and quite fun for the kids. It's actually not that complicated, you can get all the necessary materials in one place, and it's quite educational and helpful for their psychomotor skills I think.

@ Jazenso Many thanks for your suggestions and guess what I did all the above you mentioned already. I am not a very montessori mum but I certainly have to agree with you that the M. approach definitely helps to refine a child's fine motor skills so I did all of the activity you have mentioned. Actually not just transfering beads now I even went on to get my daughter to transfer beans check this out here....

@seedozo and bakergirl just print out photos of your child/family and paste them on old unwanted board books or even used calendar will be a big hit, I guess they will love the idea of flipping probably reinforced by ipad For toddlers, scrapbooking might be a little too difficult I guess but thanks for the info anyway

I actually did another craft session this week. We did something more conventional than silhouettes though. @picapica that's an amazing idea! I thought of doing that too cause I saw a similar project in one of the Reggio Emilia book which I have read. It certainly would be cool to display the craft on the wall as decoration so I collected some tissue boxes but I think they are too bulky perhaps I can get hold of some cereal boxes instead, like medium boxes used to store honey stars! @picapica I tried it with my daughter, haha the silhouette doesn't turn out as beautiful as the ones your kids did but yes she definitely enjoyed the learning experience and that's the most important

Talking about folding clothes, today I got my daughter to improvise using her metal pot to iron her clothes at the dramatic corner and she loves it. Then I took out the magic clean mop’s handle…you know the stick? Yeah I hung it over two chairs for her to pretend drying her clothes that she has washed in a big black ikea box which was supposed to be her washing machine! Yeah she was happily pegging away and using the hangers! It was so fun to watch her doing that!


Pretend play is such a BIG PART of a child’s life, I guess apart from crafting activity… everyone should really encourage their child/children to role play, not just in school but at home too! Yeah I’ve got to agree folding clothes is such a great idea too. Maybe I will get her to start off by folding her shorts…Thanks!

We started doing origami together with my 7-year-old daughter and 13-year-old niece. We really enjoy doing origami because I was able to express my creativity by doing different figures with just some piece of colored paper. It also helps my child and my niece to develop patience since doing origami is not that easy.
