Any one in the west eyeing nan hua.?

Was looking at bukit panjang govt high and other 240s schools in the west, and read this. ...

Bpghs due to the distance and that it s a band 1 school as compared to nan hua ( band 2) But nan hua is all express and heard from a friend's daughter that almost thevwhole of sec 3 except for 1 or 2 classes are doing triple science as compared to bpghs with only the best 2 classes doing triple science.( she s from bpghs). Really can't decide and therefore have not submit the choices yet.

What do you think?

I wonder where can can we get info on how many classes out of how many classes, the school will offer certain subject mix.

Hi, we are staying in the west and looking at both the schools that you mentioned. Note that the cutoff point for both schools are almost the same. However, chances are that we will choose BPGHS over Nan Hua because of proximity reason. We intend to go for both their open house in November (if there is one). Actually, I am an ex-student of BPGHS but I believe a lot has changed since then, so better take a look first before making a decision. šŸ˜‰

Hi Jedamum and Lego,

Both the school are in our list but incline towards BPGHS, perhaps Lego can share what you believe have changed over the years.
Err..actually, I don't know what has changed. 🤷 It's just that it had been more than 20 years since I graduated, so there's bound to be changes. For a start, school wasn't at this current location then. We have had normal streams since my time but the discipline master was very strict then and I dont remember having any problem with that.

I have to admit that I do look at the banding results of the two schools. It doesn't make much sense (to me) for dd to have to spend more time to travel further to a school when both take in students of same scores but produce different results in O levels. Sorry, no offence to anyone, its just my own personal thoughts, rather narrow thinking..

No oral but 2 compo writing, DD is 😢 😢 😢

2 compo? wa! i thought 1....
P5 SA1 compo for HCL is usually 1 right?
if not, i have to go back and dig out the sch letter to read in detail!! i simply assumed!

Depending on the schools, though they are tested for 1 compo in this SA1 but not certain if it is std CL or HCL, they eventually have to do 2 in PSLE.
Dd has to do two Chinese compo this SA1 - 1 compo for HCL and 1 compo for NCL. The format is different for the two compo.

For NCL, you get to choose between ēœ‹å›¾ä½œę–‡ or a å‘½é¢˜ä½œę–‡.
For HCL, the choice is between a å®Œęˆę–‡ē«  or å‘½é¢˜ä½œę–‡.
I ask dd to steer clear of å‘½é¢˜ä½œę–‡ though as I think it is tougher to write it.

Having run through DD's SA1 exam topics, I realised that they have to do 2 compos too

True but ēœ‹å›¾ä½œę–‡ also equally tough as there are all in six pictures to describe so my snail-paced DD has a tendency to end it with a conclusion of no more than one or two sentense. :faint:
