Wood burning smell in the air in balmoral/chancery area

Firstly for developed countries to be able to go and teach those farmers, that country need to be receptive. It is easy to say developed countries should do this and that but it is not a simple matter of waltzing in and saying hey why not do it this way. As it is we have a hard time getting our own MILs to do things differently, now we are talking about getting farmers in other countries to do things differently so that people from a land distant from them can breathe better? They are more concerned with putting food on their tables first. So unless there is concerted efforts from all parties, things ain’t gonna change much. And there really is nothing much the govt can do. Make noise, appeal to them, suggest and hope that someone with authority in that country take up the cause.


Global warming is the responsibility of every individual. So ask yourself, have you done your part. I will be the first to admit I have not fully done so. Bits here and there but there are some convenience that I loathe to go without.

Well, I guess other than the burning smell, it didn't quite affect us as much as some other people. Ciggy smoke is a hundred times more annoying and choking

Ciggy smoke, you can move away from the source. Haze, cannot let, it is everywhere.

At least this is short term. The recent animal death in china...suspected contaminated air/water/soil...probably a greater worry....have we already consume some of these pigs (products) without knowing it? :sick:

I didn't follow the news about the pigs in China. Did they find what is the cause of the death of thousands of pigs there?

carcasses of pigs floating on river is terrible…could they have eaten something poisonous ? dead pigs and now bird flu originating from china.

i feel these r all related…life cycle…what we r eating r plants(vege+fruit) & animals.If the air/water they take is contaminated,we’ll also be affected.


ever read somewhere that frogs r very sensitive to environment pollution n the number n variety of frogs decline signifiantly.This means our environment is highly polluted.

i feel this H7N9 case…is not simple,as reported.

Instead of spending time & money to invent new medicine or cure for virus or disease,why can’t put more focus to reduce pollution/global warming?Saying is easier than done…each countries has their own interests…when will be next climate talk?

Consumption = demand = higher production = higher pollution


When we buy new things that we don’t really need e.g. new clothes, new shoes, etc, we indirectly create pollution in the producing country (China, Indonesia, etc). I always in dilemma when buying these things while my husband thinks it is very straight forward. He only buys necessary ones. Only if the clothes cannot be worn anymore (worn out, etc), then he will buy a new one. So, his clothes are very few. But for us women, it is very difficult to do that. So, are we doing enough to reduce pollution?
