      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      Hi,
I am in Singapore and am looking around for a used piano for my daughter who has just learnt a few months. Saw a used yamaha u3 serial number 245xxxx which costs Sgd2800 dark mahogany colour which includes moving n tuning n 3 years warranty. This is from a company that buys n sells used pianos.

The other is a used yamaha u1 serial number 418xxxx which also costs sgd2800 glossy black, but excluded moving n tuning. This is from a home owner.

Which do u think I should pick?

      Thanks

without a doubt - I would have taken the U3. The U3 has much better sound and if you buy them brand new, the U3 would worth more than the U1. Plus - the seller is willing to give you warranty and moving, just go ahead and buy the U3 already!

Even though the u3 is almost 8 years older n it’s colour is dark mahagony? Cos most pianos are black in colour. Wondering if it will be hard to sell if daughter don’t use it later.

              Haha, ok thanks!

Hopefully daughter will be interested, and will not need to sell.

U3 for S$2800 is not possible. I have checked with my tuner before who has a grade 8 in Piano told me usually this kind of pricing. The piano is usually 30 years and above.

Sometimes, checking the serial number is not that accurate because most of these U3 U1 Yamaha piano are reburnished. Hope I spelled correctly.

Yamaha shop selling about S$13K and above for U3, you think it will drop to S$2800 for 8 years old piano? If that is the case, then Yamaha piano is of no value at all.

Do check more before you buy any piano.

You are right - the U3 is indeed more than 30 years for a price at $2800. The 8 years I referred to, was the difference between the 2 pianos. Thanks for your advice.

My hubby was tempted recently to invest in a grand piano for my girl as she had a talent in piano. If she get a good result in her grade 7 and 8. She will get a grand piano for her diploma.
