All About Violin Classes and Teachers

What Linley says is true. SSO musicians can play but doesn't mean they can teach. If you ask ABRSM to show you their annual results (if it's possible to do such a thing) you'll be shocked to see whose students tend to perform the worst in practical exams :scared:
LINLEY:
Hi, just wanted to share my experience that not all SSO musicians are good music teachers. Charge high rates but bad, bad teachers.

Hihi!
A few months ago quite a number of parents here were asking me for my son's violin teacher contact... Unfortunately that time he was full so could not take in any new students.. But now that the Sept exam period is over, he has a few slots opening up as some of his students will be leaving after completing their Grade 8/Diploma :rahrah: If anyone is interested in his having his contact, pls PM me
P.S. He takes in students for all grades, but minimum age is 6 years old (5 years old i think possible, subject to interview

Did the person mention what type of difficulty? Both my kids are left-handed. No violin teachers have ever mentioned any potential difficulties to us. Neither have they encountered any problems (for being left-handed) in their learning so far. -

I know teachers who are lefties themselves. Got problem, meh?Honesty:

Now that you mentioned it, DS is a lefty. But when playing violin, he is like any other person, using the right hand for holding the bow and left hand for the violin.
No issues so far. -
The difficulty is the coordinaton. DD now trained to use right hand to hold the bow and left hand to hold the violin… is this correct?
-
Aiyo, scared about all sorts of nots - have you seen symphonies whereby some violinists bow with right hand, while some bow with left hand?
-
DD had 4 lessons so far (bow with right hand) and with her piano background, she tried the ABRSM Gr 1 pcs.... I must say it is actually surprising not bad. I'm tempting to let her try Gr 3 exam in Mar. wondering if it will be tough

Anyone can tell me where to get the violin restring?
