She does not really need the tuition but between her doing nothing at home (spoiling the relationship in the process of nagging her to do work) and her attending tuition, attending tuition seems like a better alternative. Tutor is good and fees very reasonable so the decision is easier.


As she is very idle, I put her through a lot of activities so that she does not spend time on Facebook, whatsapp with the friends. Everyone is someone’s friend, social circle suddenly becomes very wide. Anticipate it to be wider next year when even the juniors from primary school get into secondary school.

Son is busy…but he needs the tuition, he wanted it. Language is a jump from primary school…but I did tell him I will take out math tuition if he can’t cope with school workload. Already keeping very lean.

DS’s comprehension marks went up this year by a visible difference. However, his grammar editing is bad. Can’t seem to find the mistakes he needs to correct. Maybe he needs time to get use to this exercise as it is new to him. Shall monitor.

grammar editing is new. son's grammar cloze needs a boost.

any parent here still have to deal with kids in sec 1 with primary school behaviour :mad: mine here asked me to let him play nintendo ds when he is done with homework...mid-year exam starts end of this month (30/4)...he told me his friends are allowed to play...told him, too bad your mother says NO.

I let my kids decide if they have done enough and can stop work. I also don't allow them to use the \"my friends...\" reason; they have to assure me that they are confident that they have done what they can in terms of schoolwork and revision, and we don't measure by time. In other words, I won't use the fact that they want to play to indicate that they can put in more work because I know that they also need relaxation. My daughter was playing wii with some younger friends the weekend before the PSLE. We will agree on a time limit and she will keep to it. Maybe you can let your son have a short play time (maybe 30 mins) then get back to work?

if i give in to his request to play nintendo ds, he will use the same tactic again if his classmates get to play wii. our agreement is NO hand-held games during school term. this week, he has 3 or 4 tests (can’t remember bcos i’m quite hands-off with his work)…which is why i am mad when he mentioned playing ds. already 13 and in sec 1, but still as playful.

i am facing a dd with mood swings.. Sometimes she just snaps at her siblings. I know she s going through bodily changes and all. Told her to learn self control.

I hAv been seeing a sec 3-4 couple in uniform near my house bus stop recently behaving intimately and kissing. They are from the sec sch nearby, and it was during their dismissal time, cos all the sec students ll wait for the buses there. Yesterday, I buay tahan called their sch and voiced my concern to the clerk. She was not the least appreciative, her tone was like 'y u call me to tell me' she asked me to take photos of the couple, which I told her, I couldn't , as I wld alarm them. Told her they could perhaps send someone down to secretly observe . Really worried that this young couple will get into 'trouble'
What will you ladies do if you see such situations? I know, we see lots if them in malls, but this one happened near the school.

Quietly snap a photo if possible. In any case, I wouldn't call the school clerk who probably wouldn't care. Will drop short email to Principle & discipline head.

Janet, boys never grow up. Just look at the L size one we have at home.
