I remember the good old days when my granma will make fishballs from scratch. Those were always a treat.

She will buy saitoh fish and scrape the flesh off the skin and bones, remove all other bits of bones from the scraped flesh, then pound them while adding salt and some flour (no idea what flour). Then comes the fun part, she will scoop a handful of the
fish paste and sqeeze out a dollop, using a teaspoon, she will shape it into a ball and drop it into a bowl of water. I used to help her with it.

Gone are the days of homemade fish ball and tofu and soya bean milk. Well soya bean milk has been revived with the joyoung machine but the rest are lost

Saw mummies here mention abt tofu and eggs....

Would like to recommend 1 dish here using plain tofu, eggs and minced pork with Tong cai....
( wonder any1 has tried this dish b4?)

A very easy dish, yet tasty.....often likes by kids....Try it....

1) mash the plain tofu
2) beat 2 eggs in a mixing bowl
3) mix well the beaten egg with the mashed tofu, add some water ( i use estimation) and some salt and pepper to it
4) steam the mixture under high fire till cooked
5) season the minced pork with some soya sauce, pepper and corn flour
6) after washing the Tong cai, chopped them finely
7) fry the tong cai with the minced pork till cooked
šŸ˜Ž spread the cooked minced pork over the steamed egg tofu....DONE !!!
Augmum, thanks for sharing. I would like to try to cook this one. But what is Tong cai?
Dinner tonight:

- ABC Soup
- Orginal smoked duck breast (from NTUC)
- Sesame Dessert (Hollyfarms)

hihi
is this something new?
how is the taste?

Nope. Do not think it is new. We bought it a few times from NTUC. It taste pretty ok to my family. At least good enough for me to make subsequent purchases.
You can serve it as hot dish or cold dish.
Either use oven or microwave.

After you heat it up or defrost it, can go with rice, porridge or bread šŸ˜‰
You can buy to keep it on standby mode.
Good idea. I will look for it on my next trip to NTUC.
Keep the good recommendations coming ... :lovesite:

We don't eat duck meat so for us we go for the chicken option. They sell it at Cold Storage. On promo days, their birds go for only $4.99 each. :please:

I personally love the Cold Storage's Black Pepper Grilled Chicken.

Butter rice + baked fish/veggies.

Wow! Your baked fish looks yummy, what's the spices you used to make the nice brown baked color?

Nah.. šŸ˜‰

NTUC have their rotisserrie as well but still Coldstorage's nicer. Ham and coldcuts also I prefer Coldstorage's to NTUC.

Small pieces, brownish in color, come in small package or some come in small rounded, clay container....

Yes, try it......very easy to cook this dish..... šŸ˜„

if no time to panfry the minced pork, can scatter it on the tofu/egg mixture to steam too šŸ˜„

Yes, steam together is even much easier but panfry the minced pork with tong cai will give a better taste....

Dinner was chicken porridge which came back up due to migraine. So in the end all I could stomach was a small cup of milo.
