reading some past posts, just curious how is MSHS standard compared to others school as of now? Given past event of the ex-principal case, has the administrative team improved and the standard improved? Thanks

Hi is anyone familiar with the parent volunteer program?

Do they give priority to become volunteer for those staying nearer to the school? For example some other schools like Kong Hwa requires to be within 1km to be considered to be a volunteer

We offered out services last year but the VP told us flat;y that they do not need any cause their existing students are part of the constant source of volunteers.

Hi hi, from what I understand, there's no such restrictions. Last yrs Parent Vol in charge lives in Woodlands.
There's also no fees involved. I recall there's recruitment every year for new & more parent volunteers.
There are 2 groups now. One group is involved in the everyday & special events and also the Religious Education group. ( As this is a Roman Catholic Mission Sch , so the Religious Edu is that of Catholicism / Christianity ).

seestar, are you referring to parent support group (PSG) - ie. parents of students already in MS…yes, this group is quite active and help out in the school…

above queries are in regards to parents who want to do PV to qualify for phase 2B - ie. son not in MS yet…

Hi there, anyone in the parents support group in MS? Does it give us access to our ds? I’m considering to join to keep an eye on my troublemaker ds. Ds has also asked me several times to quit my job, so I’m not sure if his misdeeds are actually a call for attention. I hv always been a FTWM but he has several classmates with home maker moms.

Most PSGs help out with morning reading, catechism, recess duty, mass on feast days, sports days etc.

If he needs attention, guess it’s more important to spend quality 1-to-1 time with him after school.

If you really have to quit, then maybe consider some form of home biz, or online biz so that you can spent more quality time with your DS, and still have some form of income.

I was thinking part time, but DH doesn’t think it will be of any use, since I’m already giving him my attention after work every day. But I hardly call the 1-2hrs quality time given all the focus on incomplete homework and unmarked assignments.

Part-time is good, if your company allows that. If DS needs more attention from you and needs coaching for his assignments etc, then yes, 1-2hrs is not enough. If money is no issue, just cut down to part-time first, review situation 3 months later and quit totally if more time is needed.

Is DH against you giving up your salary? Some men don’t want to say but they do feel stressed if made to be sole breadwinner. Get his full support before you quit or change to part-time.

When I worked full time last time, I put DS in a student care that handled all his homework. So after work, I could only spend 1-2 hours on understanding his day, looking through his school letters, signing his assignments etc. If I tried to coach him, I will kill him and myself coz there’s really no time and no patience after a long day.
