          Q;

          Edwin and George had a total of 330 stamps. Edwin had 20% more stamps than George. Edwin started by giving 30% of his stamps to George. Then, George in return gave 25% of his stamps to Edwin. How many more stamps must Edwin give to George so that they have the same number of stamps in the ant?

              Hi pls help e Q;

              Town A and Town B were 60km apart. Mrs Leong left Town A and cycled towards Town B at 11 a.m. at an average speed of 12 km/h. At the same time, Mr Sim left Town B and cycled towards Town A at an average speed of 18km/h. They met each other along the way and continued to cycle without stopping at the same speed.

              (a) At what time did they meet each other?

              (b) How far was Mrs Leong from Town B when Mr Sim reached Town A?
              Hi,

              a) Since every hour, they are 18+12=30 km closer, it will take 60/30=2h for them to meet each other.
              Time--> 2 hours after 11am --> 1pm
              b) Time taken for Mr Sim to reach Town A--> 60/18 = 3 1/3
              Distance Mrs Leong has travelled--> 3 1/3 X 12 = 40km
              Ans: 60 - 40 = 20 km

              Cheers.

                J : Total of B+C
                4 : 3

                B : C : Total of B+C
                5 : 4 : 9

                We need to make Total of B+C the same
                J : Total of B+C
                4 : 3
                12 : 9

                B : C : Total of B+C
                5 : 4 : 9

                Combining both ratios:
                J : B : C
                12 : 5 : 4

                12-5=7
                7 units difference--> 91
                1 unit--> 91/7 = 13
                12 + 5 + 4 = 21
                21 units --> 21 X 13 = 273

                Hope that helps!

                  (b) How much money did Ann donate?
                  A : Total of B+C : Total of A+B+C
                  3 : 5 : 8

                  C : Total of A+B : Total of A+B+C
                  2 : 3 : 5

                  Since the total is the same, we need to make the total units of both ratios the same.

                  A : Total of B+C : Total of A+B+C
                  3 : 5 : 8
                  15 : 25 : 40

                  C : Total of A+B : Total of A+B+C
                  2 : 3 : 5
                  16 : 24 : 40

                  Combining both ratios:
                  A : B : C
                  15 : (40-15-16)=9 : 16

                  7 units difference-->$35
                  1 unit--> 35/7=$5
                  a) 40 units--> 40X5=$200
                  b) 15 units-->15X5=$75

                  Hope that helps.

Then, George in return gave 25% of his stamps to Edwin. How many more stamps must Edwin give to George so that they have the same number of stamps in the ant?

                    Tq
                    At the start,
                    Let Edwin --> 120/220X330=180 stamps
                    George --> 330-180=150 stamps

                    Edwin started by giving 30% of his stamps to George..
                    Edwin--> 180X70%=126
                    George--> 330-126=204

                    Then, George in return gave 25% of his stamps to Edwin..
                    George--> 204X75%=153
                    Edwin--> 330-153=177

                    In order for them to have the same number, they both must have
                    330/2=165 stamps

                    Therefore, 165-153=12 must be given.

                    Hope that helps.

                      Hi,

                      Need help again. Many thanks in advance.

                      In school A, there were 580 boys and 868 girls. In school B, there were 1420 boys and 382 girls. Some children were transferred from school A to school B. as a result, 40% of the children in school A and 75% of the children in school B were boys. How many children were transferred from school A to school B?
                      In the end:
                      School A:
                      Boys : Girls
                      2 u : 3 u

                      School B
                      Boys : Girls
                      3 p : 1 p

                      Total Boys-->580+1420=2000 (2u + 3p)..........(1)
                      Total Girls-->868+382=1250 (3u + 1p)............(2)

                      (2)X3: 9 u + 3 p ---> 3750.............................(3)
                      Comparing (1) and (3)
                      7 u-->3750-2000=1750
                      1 u-->1750/7=250
                      We find 5 units to find the number of students in A in the end.
                      5 u-->1250

                      Therefore a total of 580+868-1250=198 was transferred.

                      Hope that helps.
