      AmandaSG:
Hi, wonder if you could share contact on the maid agency you engaged previously to renew your Filipino maid's contract? May I know how much you paid for home leave application &/or work permit renewal please? Thanks in advance!

Hi AmandaSG, I have been using Hart Consultancy located in Lucky Plaza, #02-25. My helper who went home after working for me for 4 years wanted to come back and work for me again. At that time, I called up more than 10 agencies regarding direct hiring and Hart is among the cheapest and provide quite good service. Tel: 6235 7537

For home leave application, I roughly remember paying around $12 to $15.
As for work permit, we will receive a notification letter from MOM, after which, we can renew online on our own. Does not need to engage an agent.

      Services offered by Hart include:
      - Philippines Embassy documentation (homeleave, renewal of passport etc)
      - POEA processing
      - MOM services
      - Air ticketing
      - Consultancy

You may like to call them for a quotation. 😄

          Hi

Would like personal recommendation of an existing domestic helper keen in cooking and general housekeeping. No kids or elderly. Must have a good working track record, mature (age & mentally/emotionally), with a pleasant sensible steady temperament.

All suggestions welcomed. Many thanks in advance.

          Tann

Well, it depends on your luck, no matter which agency you go to - whether you are lucky to find a maid that is of positive attitude and hardworking, and won't give you the headaches that most maid employers face.

I got my maid from Pertama Maid Agency at Katong Shopping Centre. This is one place where you will get confused over which agency to approach. So far, I'm satisfied with the service quality and responsiveness of this agency. I've got the details here from the website:
            http://pertama.netmaid.com.sg
            865 Mountbatten Road,
            #01-03 Katong Shopping Centre
            Singapore 437844
            Opening Hours:
            Monday to Friday:11:30am to 8:00pm
            Saturday, Sunday & PH: 11:00am to 6:00pm
CLOSED ON EVERY THURSDAY OF THE WEEK
You can contact the person in charge - Arthur (HP 91629133). He is experienced and friendly, and willing to help you find the right maid to meet your family's needs.

            Just sharing for your info.

Maid agency to avoid - 5 star employment services. They will place you a maid, and after 1.5 year or so, start talking to the maid to do a transfer, promising more money. Why do they do this? They get huge transfer fees, and easy to place. This is extremely unethical, because they took our money in the first place.

Oh btw, u can refuse the transfer. My maid after 3 months (immed after replacement period and loan repayment) ask for a transfer (she spoke to the agent prior to telling me, e agent didn’t even counsel her). I believe she wanted to make use of the new rule of 4 offdays cos she requested in Dec. I rejected her request and told her either she fulfil her contract, or she can go home immed.

Yes, quite unethical, especially if yours is a good maid! But this sounds like the practice of the \"headhunters\" in the working world. I was just musing that if there is a \"free\" market whereby maid can job-hope easily with each hop having higher pay, we employers will be having a big headache... :moneyflies: :moneyflies: :moneyflies:

Indeed, to find a good domestic helper is dependent on luck. However, it also depends on the agency's capability to discipline the maids. There are some who just match the maids and do not go the extra mile.

Hi all, went down to a maid agency today. Am looking for maid to take care of my grandparents. Their agent fee is 1288, admin fee is 248 (for ex), insurance is abt 300. Free replacement within 6 months but stll need to pay admin fee and insurance. They seemed quite open with the maid history, have included a copy of maid’s employment record from mom, so we don’t need to check it ourselves. They also included a copy of the maid passport in the bio data.

Coz this is our first agency, we told the person in charge that we need to consider. As we were walking out, there were maids sitting around and at least came over to open the door for us with a smile. We asked if these maids were waiting for transfer and he said yes. He added that they do not have elder care experience, hence did not recommend to us. Do you think it shows that he’s ethical - don’t just try to push any available one to us?

But one of my consideration is their fees seems quite ex. Also, I believe that a good agency does not equal a good maid.

Really depends how they source their maids and discipline them.
