      Imami:
Question - do you buy ready minced meat from markets/supermarkets or you buy the meat and then mince yourself/at home?

Never ready minced as quality of meat used can be questionable

some stalls provide on the spot mincing service.

That's why my question lor. I heard before - that the quality of meat from ready minced meat is not good. Better mince it ourselves, but I find it too time consuming.

I don't find those \"I mince for you\" stalls in the few markets I frequent....

                tinkfirst:

                Tonight's dinner is:

                - baby Heng cai with small anchovies
                - grill teriyaki salmon
                - miso soup with toufu
-green Thompson & midnight grapes for dessert

Hi tinkfirst, your miso soup - how/where do you make/get your miso base? I always find miso soup served in food places too salty for my liking. How can we reduce the saltiness?

I buy the brand Nature's Way (let me confirm later this afternoon) organic miso soup in powdered sachets. I usu. use base pork soup to make miso soup, more flavourful vs to using only water (which my children totally rejected).

                Edit: brand is Nature's Glory

I buy whole cut and ask the butcher to mince.

My hubby also diplomatic most of the time πŸ˜†

If not got no dinner har? πŸ˜† mine also like tat. Hardly criticizes even though I still screw up some times. But I hide from him the costs of some fish, meat and fruits.

He doesn't criticize much nowadays. During our first year of marriage, he did criticize occasionally. Aiyo, why the fish so tasteless? Why the meat so tough? Why you cook the veges I hate? What I do is I repeat the same things to him when he cooks every weekend

Fast forward.. Things have improved a lot over the years...

For groceries, DH knows how much the meat, vege and fruits cost. There is no need to hide. He is the one who does grocery shopping every weekend. I just pass him a list of things to buy. I work weekends so hubby has to take over. Even my DS knows how much the items on my list cost.

When I buy gourmet chocolates or other specialities from hotels, he won't know how much they cost. He might cringe if he knows. He is the stingy type. Must count every cent although we can afford the luxuries. We save a lot. Thanks to my stingy husband.

:rotflmao: u cannot like that! He is what some would say ηš‡εΈθΊ«οΌŒδΉžδΈθƒƒγ€‚he can well afford better quality/ variety of food but he finds it a waste to spend on food to him, there is little point eating cod fish, since Ikan tuning also provides protein.

Durian also like that. He thinks we should settle for the $2 per box types instead of getting a $20 ηŒ«ε±±ηŽ‹.

                        I can't agree with this.
