      tinkfirst:
Thank you SAHM_TAN and HArlequin. May I know any specific brand of vinegar to buy?

I use the Tamanoi Instant Sushi Seasoning, Sushi Powder Vinegar (cos am lazy to supervise my maid 😂 ) bought from Isetan supermarket. It comes in packet, about palm size, packet is in orange color. There is another brand in yellow packet about the same size.

A packet is for 4 cups of rice (before cooked).

Sprinkle while mixing with hands (wearing disposable gloves), I prefer to do when the rice is cold, it's easier on the hand and also help to determine the rice stickiness, the vinegar will make the rice less sticky and harder to roll the sushi, California roll would be no problem.

It's pre mixed with sugar and salt, easier for me cos my girls like the taste.

There is another brand, not sure of the name, in yellow packet, a bit more sour... not well received by my girls.

Hope this helped, enjoy rolling your sushi.... try the exotics, eg, Char siew or Peking duck 😂

Oh, a tip… If you find the rice not sticky enough after mixing in the vinegar solution/vinegar powder, try to mash the rice by pressing it harder, this help to bring out the starch, and you will get the stickiness after a few minutes.

Using the bamboo mat helps to roll more uniformly, also less likely the seaweed sheet broken or stick to your fingers.

          SAHM_TAN:
When I was learning to make sushi roll, I read many online articles and watched YouTube on how to roll the sushi. I compiled and used selected portion fr each source.

Tools sushi bamboo mat. You can buy this fr Daiso. Daiso also sell the plastic container to get sushi roll without rolling. If you are using the bamboo mat, can consider to use plastic to cover it. I don't use bamboo mat. I free hand roll. The important thing to abt rolling the sushi is to keep the stuffing tight and roll it tight. Or else the filling might fall out when you slice the sushi roll. But not too much strength hor or else the seaweed might break. Don't fill too much ingredient becos will be difficult to roll and you might not be able to make a roll. Heehee.

Seaweed - place the rough side of the seaweed face up. This is the side you put the rice

Rice - fr what I read, after washing need to let it air dry and then soak for 30 mins. But now I just wash and soak heehee

I use the vinegar use for sushi, I will add in sugar and salt. The portion is 3 tablespoon vinegar, 2 tablespoon sugar and 1 teaspoon salt. This is for 11/2 cup rice. My kids like tangy and sweet rice so I a bit more of vinegar and sugar. I will warm the vinegar to help dissolve the sugar and salt. There are also seasoned vinegar then you can skip this but it contains MSG so I don't buy seasoned vinegar.

When the rice and vinegar mixture have cooled I will mix both.

Before you start rolling prepare a bowl of water.

When you have the seaweed top with some rice, wet your fingers before spreading the rice evenly on the seaweed. Leave a finger spacing at the top and bottom of the seaweed. The max limit for the filling is about half of the seaweed length.

Filling - up to your fancy. My fav is egg, jap cucumber, avocado for younger kids and older kid and me get additional smoke salmon. From the top of tjr seaweed, the side closest to you, I will line cucumber first follow by egg, avocado and salmon and then repeat but without cucumber. The ingredients will need to be sliced length-wise. For avocado, I use a spoon to scoop a thin slice. The filling is placed on the rice covered seaweed.

Then I free hand roll making sure gently tightly roll all ingredients together.

Now the cutting of the sushi, wet the knife blade fr the bowl of water. I get rid of excess water then cut. After each cut wet the knife blade and get rid of excess water. From the YouTube there's a way to let the water flow off but I just \"scrape\" the blade against the edge of the bowl LOL.

I fried the egg used for sushi making.

          I think that's about it.
          :salute: :thankyou:

                  buds,

thks for sharing wonderful recipes. 😄

where to buy the pizza base?Cold storage?which section?

where u buy the Focaccia? Delifrance?

You can find them all at Cold Storage. Yup, all the ingredients featured in this quick fix meal episode can be found under one roof. Pizza bases come in different sizes, brands and price tags. :moneyflies: I only wanted to buy the cheapest. You can find them together with those ready-made pizzas in flat-packed boxes in the freezer section.. yes, usually where the potato wedges are.. where the roti pratas are too..

The focaccia at the bread section. Looks like this..

we love this focaccia bread too. It is our usual sandwiches bread.

Only thing is that the size is a little bit off, cut into half is too big, cut into thirds is a little too small
