      Harlequin, work hard.. play hard.

      I believe in enjoying food.

...... while we still can ......

I have living examples of frenz and family/relatives who were extremely health conscious who ended up being the ones who kena prolonged illnesses compared to the rest who enjoy their food and eat everything in moderation... with the occasional all-out-binge. Another problem is also teeth. I hear from the oldies with few teeth, no teeth or false teeth (mixture of those who are currently on lotsa medication for prolonged illnesses and those without) : that they wished they had enjoyed food when they had them. Especially those who have toiled hard to bring up their family and had to scrimp on food to save and to raise their family.

        SAHM_TAN:
        Hi buds,

The lowdown on hubby's prawn soup base for the noodles.

Very simple. Pork ribs, chicken bones, prawn shells and prawn head. Plus the usual condiments. He didn't fry the prawn shells and head.
Checked with aunt who used to run her own stall : She swears by the prawns too. šŸ˜„

She didn't fry them either prior to making stock out of them.

          Thanks, buds...

What you said is so true, eat everything in moderation, most important to me is I must eat the food I like, haha, according to my appetite. It's like there is another \"me\"-- the stomach/taste bud I have to made happy.

My cousin's MIL, a slim health conscious golfer, eat right and exercise, she got a stroke last year, she is currently under rehabilitation. She is only 62... who would have thought that a person that eats 80% veggies, eats only good quality meats/fishes, non smoker/drinker, brisk walks, plays golf on regular basis would have such a health episode...

Yes, we eat what's right, but not according to the book all the time, it's important to eat to be happy.

Cheers, buds.... I sunguh pedas now... can almost see smokes coming out of my nose, haha, but super shiok the curry fish head and the sambal prawn. :celebrate:

Sorry, typing very slow cos I am eating the fish head with my fingers, trying to suck the bones as clean as possible :imcool:

Talking about eating with fingers... share with you a light hearted story...

Our family friend, the late Mr Sampoerna (senior), he being a Indonesia Chinese, not a English speaker and not well versed with the ang moh social etiquettes; one fine day, he was in Holland, being layan to some fine French cuisine.... small servings and many cutlery.... this good natured old man started to feel uneasy.... he decided the best way is to eat with what he is best with, so he started to eat the main course chicken with his bare fingers, like he always do.... His ang moh biz counterparts and the lead waiter were all too shock to see an old man, in safari suits, eating with his fingers in the fine dining restaurant.... of course, ahem, they tried to stop him.... Mr Sampoerna replied them with an air of dignity... Picking up the fork and and said politely to the waiter, \"this (the cutlery), is made by man\"... holding up his right hand continued saying, \"this (his hands), is made by God!\"

Heehee, who is to stop a man that uses God's gift?

Was reading a Oprah magazine while waiting for my turn to see the doctor.

                Lemon and smoked mozzarella pizza
                -----------------------------------------
                1 pound prepared pizza dough
1/2 pound smoked mozzarella, thinly sliced
1 small lemon, very thinly sliced, seeds ad ends discarded
                1 n 1/2 tbsp. olive oil
                1/2 tsp kosher salt
                1/4 tsp ground black pepper

                Preheat oven to 450 F
Stretch and press dough into a 14" circle on a pizza pan
Arrange mozzarella and lemon slices over the crust, drizzle with oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper
Bake until golden brown and bubbly, about 20 mins

I dun hv most of the above.

I used Gardenia wrap as the base, topped with lemon slices, brinjal slices, tomato slices, cheddar cheese and sprinkle all-purpose seasonings. After baking, drizzled some Jap sesame dressing. Yumyum

                        It was sour, quite refreshing.
