Hi bigdevil, where is the bishan br? I only know of one bishan br but it closed/moved off already. Not sure where they have moved to.
:?BigDevil:
You should have the materials with you for 2 wks. The first wk is when your child brings it home to complete the bk. The teachers will return the bks when they completed marking and you will bring it back to them during the next lesson.
So far we only get to keep the books for 1 week.
DS will bring the 2 books back, work on them, and hand them in
at the beginning of the next class....and that's it! We don't see
them coming back to us again. That's why I made sure I looked
through DS' work before the books are given back to the centre.
Perhaps each centre has different practice?
My DS is in the Bishan branch.

My son is in K1 and was told by Tampines CPF branch to sign him up for Jelic and move to MPM when in K2. My son joined in Mar'13 and loves the class so I'm ok with it. Just spoke to the teacher in charge and apparently its better to build a strong foundation with Jelic before moving to MPM.
As Jelic and MPM is more on maths concepts and logic. Do I still need to send him to Abacus class? I've read the forum on Abacus training but still worried that my son might be confused when enter P1 with abacus. Any thoughts?
Abacus is good for mental calculation.
It will help in the calculation skills but not problem solving skills.
It's good to let your K1 child try out since he's still so young. Give him exposure if budget is not a concern. -

So mpm is better than CMA?
Every programmes have their strength. It depends on what you want your child to pick up. Better you visit the centres and view their materials before you decide which programmes suits your child's needs. -
don’t understand why only listen to ‘hear say’. Try out your own.
Different kids different development. A mother who has intelligent kid will gives different testimony from a mother who has a lazy kid.
Cannot compare mah. Some even cannot cope with easy questions. -
MPM questions or workbook originated from where ?
-
Sometimes feel guilty sending them to enrichment but it is to prepare them early. So they not suffer to cope the maths in primary school.

I agree whole-heartedly. I have been given and now I have been giving this same advice to many people.don't understand why only listen to 'hear say'. Try out your own.

What works for one child may not work for another so parents should understand their child and their learning style before just putting them with their friends. At the end, it will be a waste of time and money. Worse, the poor child that can't cope may end up losing self-confidence no thanks to the parents... -
I recommend to my friend. I myself feel bai seh to the instructor for introducing them. Never know my friend’s kid has no initiative to start on her own. Every page must wait for the instructor to stand beside her then willing to do. A simple basic question such as 5+6= __ also could not do on her own. P1 kid.

How different is Jelic and MPM ?

How different is Jelic and MPM ?
Jelic is for younger kids, pre-school. Majority hands-on activities. Will bring back worksheets. The training is still mostly on logic and thinking skills, observation skills.
MPM - can start fr mid-K1 or K2 till P6. I think if join later than P3 will not accept. The materials are workbook and some topics will include manupluatives. The booklet will be retained by the centre after you have seen the marked work. You get to keep the manupluatives. The training is on thinking skills and to view maths qns from different angles. -
Hi everyone, I’m new here. Can anyone share with me any experience at pasir ris east cc branch and tampines CPU branch. I tried to call the branches but no answer. Thanks a lot.

Hi, was wondering if any parent sends their child to MPM Toa Payoh? I intend to enroll my daughter but have not been able to contact them at their number this week.

Hi, I’m staying in bukit timah & I’m interested to enroll my children in MPM. Any recommendation which branch is good? Thanks.

Hi
Any parents sending their kids to tampines CPF building or pasir ris west plaza?
Is there a grading system at mpm? If there isn’t, how will parents know how we’ll their kids are doing and at which level they are at?
Please advise and Tia. -
I’m still very confused whether to send my kid to MPM or normal tuition at Just Education Maths
He’s already in P1 and not too sure is it too late to enroll him? Seem like 5 years old is good age to start as to prepare for P1
Since already in P1, should just go for normal tuition which is in line with the school syllabus so that can score better for test or exams
MPM seem more like an enrichment and the kid already attend school for 5 days so it might be better to do something different as not to kill their interest.
Maybe proper maths tuition can come later at P3. Heuristic Maths seem good for P3 onwards
Anyway I will be going to MPM west plaza for briefing and find out more from the trainer. -
Hi waynemum, are you also staying in pasir ris? I have been to west plaza for e preview. Mpm Mathis does cover p1 moe syllabus and on top of that the kids will be able to learn different concept and can improve on their thinking skills.

Yes.. I'm staying in Pasir Ris as well and my preview is tonight. I'm not sure whether at CC or west plaza will be better. I'm looking at lower ratio per student although I understand the ratio is 1:8 .. But I will prefer smaller class ratio.
Thanks for the assurance
