Exam Preparation

vinegar, I just give up and engage a tutor recently. I really can’t teach my dd, I don’t know how to explain in a way that she understands and most impt I don’t have the impatient with her. Sigh…

My son is stubborn and does not want to use my methods when solving Maths problem sums. So, I usually race with him. If he is faster than me in solving a problem sum, he can use his method. If he is slower than me in solving a problem sum then he must use my method. Fair.

My kids will cry foul.
You son's math capability must be pretty high for it to be anywhere near a fair fight. -

I think his Maths teacher is a very good teacher. My son told me that he is only average in his class. Some kids are really fast.ngl2010:

I am still thinking how to motivate my son on daily basis like what you did :? -

i feel getting the right tutor is crucial. I am amazed with TheAnswer suggestions. My ds's english tutor keeps feeding him creative phrases yet he couldn't even able to write a good flow of compo with proper grammar n sentence structure.
My suggestions are simple and effective (on long term basis). It can be done by any parent. There is no point if I share something that can only be done by teachers or tutors. Like it or not, all parents must develop basic skills to help their kids.
I'm not sure why but I have an influx of PMs (from early this year until today) asking to reserve slots for next year or if I still have time for new students :faint: I have rejected all kind offers by parents. If I have time, I will share on the forum the techniques which I find effective.
while i highlighted to her several times that a good foundation of grammar n sentence structure r impt, she seems to disagree n comment these could be taught along the way.
Hence, she keeps teaching him compo without building his foundation. My DH said this doesn't look the right way to teach.
I've to tidy up the big mess(files, papers, books)that she left on the desk.I've to re-organize the teaching materials she gave to my DH n put it in a proper order n file.
Don't know how many times I hv shown her on exam schedule n syllabus.Perhaps she has too many students so she couldn't remember,or she simply doesn't hv commitment.
She should have a notebook to record all the exam dates for all her students, all the topics for each student, what she has covered during the lesson and what she plans to do during the next lesson.
Yet,i've to put up on her until i find a proper tuition centre, after SA1.. -

My boy will not dare to challenge/race with me
He will claim that it isn't a fair game

TheAnswer,
thanks for the tips. Personally,i find her very disorganized.Drinks n food i offered her, drink on the left side, plate on top of the shelf.Of course,i don’t mind to tidy up if she is able to assist my ds to improve his english writing skill.
I don’t even think abt "Creative" writing,so long he could produce compo with good sentence structure n flow,i am contented. -

Sometx,he didn't even wanna listen, how to get him to \"race\".However,he is super \"obedient\" when teachers/tutor ard :scared: .So hv to spend $$ to outsource..sigh..... -

He thought only teachers and tutors have the best methods. So I race with him to shut him up. If he finishes faster than me, I will admit to him that his teacher's method is more superior than mine. If I finish faster than him, then he has to adopt my method. He is P6 so his speed is reasonably fast.
