I use hyflux filter.. cheap, simple, easy to use.

Singapore water is safe to drink direct from tap.. a filter to block impurities and remove dirt is good enough, I feel.

Yes i agree and i have been drinking it since young, but chlorine is harmful to our body,if there is a damaged cell or wounds onbody the chlorine help to make things worse, but with zinc water,it will heals and repair .and it really tastes sweeter, once i went back to tap water i cannot make myself drink it again.you can really tell the differences

Most commercial filters in the market (hyflux, osim etc..) use some kind of activated carbon that will remove most harmful substances, including chlorine. unless you are using cloth only to trap particles.
Yes, all good quality filters uses some form of active carbon.

The latest technology is the Activated Coconut Shell Carbon reduces waterborne chemicals, improving taste & eliminating offensive odours.

ZeoSleeve Technology incorporating Zeolite, a natural silicate mineral with a high affinity for capturing heavy metals & radioactive substances.

I used the hyflux hf1p-3aa filtered and alkaline for 2-3 weeks. Bowel movements, yes improved. not so tired, seem to be. not sure if psychological. but don't need to boil water - definitely great ! Only downside I am seeing now is the maintenance cyclinder replacement costs of $500+ for every 2 years depending also on your household size and usage. I finally decide to go ahead with a filter system after seeing how \"rusty\" our tap water turns out to be.

In fact, the no. 1 problem is not in our drinking water but it is actually our washing machine as it uses lots of water and use at least once a day for most household.

No. 2 problem is our bathroom, or more specifically, our shower head as we bathe at least once or twice a day.

It is probably the neglected area or ignored source of \"rusty\" and dirty water that we used as the water contact with the skin pores actually penetrates into the body.

Of course, we still need to filter and cleanse the drinking water that we drink šŸ˜„

I don't think hyflux and osim filters remove chlorine. I have asked their shops and they told me their filters can't remove chlorine. Which model do you have? Maybe the staff I asked do not know.

I believe all carbon filter removes chlorine.

hmm.. The product info never mention anything about chlorine, so probably the sales staff just wanna play safe.

But it does state odorless water. Water will not be odorless if Chlorine and other dissolved toxic gases is present. Maybe the filter is not targeted at chlorine (less active carbon).. and if chlorine is present is large quality it cannot be removed sufficiently, hence they don't put.

Anyway, just to share with you one encounter..

There was this friend who is trying to sell Amway filter system to DW. fren talk all the benefits of cleaner water etc and how good is their filter can remove all the impurities/toxic from water etc.. then she do a demo take some tap water and add some \"chemicals\" to it, saying that the chemical will produce some ppt (precipitate/particles) if the water got harmful substances (Chlorine etc..). Indeed, some particles was produced in tap water.

Then, fren took a cup of tap water, pass it thru their filter system, and test again with the chemical. This time, there were no ppt indicating that the water is clean. There she haolian again saying their filter how good etc..

My DW wasn't interested in the amway product and told her that we already got a filter system (from hyflux) no need buy another one. Then the friend say like, their filter can remove the harmful substances etc and cheap filter cannot. So she took a sample of the water from our hyflux filter (F38) and confidently test with the chemical, trying to prove her point.

The result? NO ppt, nothing was detected. Indicating the water is Pure/Clean with no harmful substances.

                  She was speechless.

Then DW said, \"see, my ~$100 filter can do what your few $k filter can do, I no need to buy so expensive filter system\"

So, I am quite confident that my hyflux filter can remove harmful substances too šŸ˜‰

Anyway, their alkaline filter did state that it will reduce chlorine (Not F38).

The thing is.. is it good enuff? And do one have excess money to burn..?

The one I had stated officially that it removes chlorine more than 90%.

                      http://www.hyfluxconsumer.com/product/view/28

Without alkaline feature it will be much cheaper.

I did my research prior and the advice I had is, if you are really into water filtration system, look for those that </= 0.01 micron filter ability.

The cheapest option is like I did before just tie a cloth around the tap outlet.

& yes does not mean the more expensive it is the better it is. at the end of the day, we still have our own preference and budget constraints to consider.

& if you are only looking at no boiling or hot & cold water, search under \"water dispensers\" category.

I am no expert. Just from my own personal purchase experience. Hope that helps.
