            hi mommies,

my dd will be going P1 next year.
As she's petite in size; i wasn wondering if it's good idea to get her the trolley school bag. if there are a lot of stairs for them, then maybe this is not a good idea.

            please kindly advice. 🙂

              Trolley bags are not recommended.

The school hall is on the 4th level.

                Hi Jennifer,

                Thank you for sharing.
My gal suddenly woke up this morning (half sleeping) and said, \"I want trolley bag for school!\" Knowing her strength (coz of her petite size), she probably can't carry her school bag if there are too many materials inside. 😞

Really unsure of the bag load she will have to carry when she goes P1 next year... hope she can tahan. 🙏

The trolley bag is heavy and clumsy even without books, so in the end it is better to use normal bag instead.

Hi, I think I understand your concern. My dd is also petite in size, so I got her a very light school bag, a small water bottle and a very thin story book (for quiet reading purpose). During 1st year, most of the school textbooks and exercise books are given to her class teacher before the school term start. So not to worry, just remind her to walk down the staircase slowly and also not to pack unnecessary stuffs in her school bag.

Yes, comfy is right. The school will take most of the required exercise books and activity books on the first week and so there will be very few things left to bring to school on a daily basis. The things to bring daily are:

                        - water bottle with water (heaviest)
                        - pencil case (get those light ones) with some colour pencils
                        - Math textbook ( I slice the inside of the book and punch holes on the left edge of the loose pages, then file in only about 3 chapters of the whole book each time. The outside of the textbook looks normal. Only that it is a shrink version.)
                        - Chinese textbook (This one I don't cut cos it is the more impt text)
                        - To keep worksheets from school, I let my ds bring a folder to school. You can get it from Popular. It is very light yet very effective. (POP BAZIC Model no: PB3225. Cost $1.00)
                        - 笔记本 (which is 1 medium-square exercise book)
                        - FTGP journal (FTGP: Form teacher guidance period)
                        - School organiser (to record homework tasks, & for parent-teacher communication)
                        - A book for reading (just encourage the kids to bring a thin or paperback one to cut down the weight)
