DSA 2022

Received email from DHS for interview on 3rd Aug (string ensemble). Curious about the take-up rate. Round 1 is to test DSA talent. Round 2 (interview) may check characters, whether fit to the school… seems different DSA applications will mixed for interview?

Dunman High
Received email from DHS for interview on 3rd Aug (string ensemble). Curious about the take-up rate. Round 1 is to test DSA talent. Round 2 (interview) may check characters, whether fit to the school… seems different DSA applications will mixed for interview?
A few years back (ago),
3 candidates turned up for interview (at Dunman High), at the final round :-
one P6 candidate from string ensemble,
another from guzheng,
third candidate from Chinese orchestra. These 3 candidates waited for their turn, one by one, to enter the Interview room.
1) Round 1 was
(Audition + a very fast, rapid Interview, by the Seniors who are students). More than 20+ candidates attended Round 1.
2) Round 2 was an interview, with
(Principal + VP (Academic) + music maestro) + another Officer present who never asked any question but was a quiet observer, keep jotting down notes as the candidate talked during the interview )
The music maestro will ask questions, in that area (specialization) u are musically strong in.
VP (Academic) will ask u other qns, non music related.
Dunman High is a SAP school.
During the interview, whoever asked u question in Chinese, then reply this Officer in Chinese. They want to hear your proficiency in Mandarin.
Otherwise, if the interviewer ask you questions in English, then just reply them in English.
At the end, they will ask you, \"Do you have any question, for us ?\" So, u may prepare this, in advance. -
Hi parents
Considering each child personality is important too in their learning journey else it may be wasted time and efforts in the long run. I have heard these true experiences at my child’s school parenting workshop.
It was the wish for the parent their child becoming a doctor. The child obliged and become a doctor. academically not a problem for the child to pass the exams. But the child was miserable being a doctor because he is just fulfilling the parent wish, it is not what the child wanted to do.
Another case, parent wish the child being a lawyer. Again it is not a problem for that child to pass the exams. After gotten the law certificate, in the words of the speaker at the workshop, that child did better than the doctor mentioned above, the child threw the certificate at the parent and said: this is what you wanted and I am giving it to you. Now I will do what I like. -
For SST those who appeared for the test on the 2nd day, did anyone get any response?

Each secondary school has its own process. Usually interview on separate day, some schools on same day and some schools do not need interviews at all.

The “chit chat” is part of the interview stage? Or prior?zeemimi\" post_id=\"2076347\" time=\"1658915872\" user_id=\"15896:[quote=zeemimi post_id=2076347 time=1658915872 user_id=15896]Before reaching the interview stage, there is the psychometric test, and there is also a stressful \"chit chat\".
PSC wants to portray itself as being diversified, looking not just at grades. Same for Medicine. So they like to highlight a few non-JC recipients. But looking at this year's PSC recipients, the majority are still from the same schools.
You are right about diversity. They have reduced the proportion from more than 60% to less than 50% for PSC scholarships awarded to students from RI/HCI.
