your daughter can try the Non-SAP (IP or O-level track ) schools.

      Eg. (IP schools ) -

Cedar Girls, SCGS, National JC, Temasek JC or MGS (IB)

If I’m not wrong, non-Singaporeans do not qualify for the EESIS scholarship. So if you choose to DSA (or go via Sec 1 posting) into an Independent School like RGS, the school fees can be quite hefty especially for a foreigner.

So pls check out their school fees (or any available financial assistance) before you commit.

Hello. My kid went in RGS thru leadership domain last year. She was under waitlist which was converted.

My 2-cents, just go ahead and apply but be mindful of the difficulty level. Once secured the opportunity for an interview, the rest is up to her. CCA leadership would be a plus point but the experience of initiating a fund-raiser is very valuable, in fact was asked during the interviews (experience in community events).

As per the grandmasters’ advice above, please note the hefty fees for non-citizen ($1,300 p/mth). Do keep an open mind and explore all options carefully.

Unlike most other DSA domains, leadership requires no extra submission and also no CCA commitment. So no harm trying. Do note u only have 3 DSA choices ya. All the best

Fortunately we are SC and with ESIS, it’s $140 per month. Anyway, transportation for 1-way only (minibus) is $200! Not much choice… 😅

Perhaps if you don’t mind, do share what was her leadership profile like, that got her to a waitlist and eventually convert. Was she a head prefect, did fund raising, CCA leader, etc.

Hello parents, my gal is taking the DSA exercise this year. I'm new to KSP but I hope that ya'll can help. So my child is keen to apply DSA to RGS, through Leadership. She is her school's Vice-Head prefect and received a few awards. However, her last yr EYE AL total is 9, AL1 Math, AL1 EL, AL2 SC, AL5 CL (we are Vietnamese, do not speak CL at home). She is not a CCA leader (we need advice on how much this will affect her application) but we are seeking help and cooperation from teachers. This year she will also be self-initiating a fundraising project for Food From the Heart and I hope it can contribute to her Leadership profile.

If you do not recommend her to apply for RGS, could you give us some suggestions as well? We would prefer IP schools.

Could we hear some advice or feedback? She is trying to improve her Chinese and I think for WA she will get around AL 3 (last year was pulled down because of one term, it was compo only and her weakness). And also please please please let us know how much the lack of CCA leadership will affect her? Is it critical? Will they consider it heavily, despite her leadership role and contributions? What else can we/she do? Also, we are foreigners, not PR or SG Citizen. Thanks! 😄
I would like to recommend NJC, as the schools fees are relatively more affordable as compared to the independent IP schools. And unlike SAP schools, I think it is slightly more accommodating to have a less than perfect Chinese score.

                    All the best!

Sure. Vice-head prefect. Chairperson Art club. Community service activities only those done within school period. For P5 and mid-year, both AL7. In the DSA submission (RGS Leadership and RGS Visual Art), kiasufully filled up the max 10 “non-school achievements”. Intent was to exhibit being an all-rounder, so all her arts, music, sports, debate, etc, we just laid it out on the table 😂 also the ECHAs and EAGLEs awards should count for something too
