Yes, they will start doing past year papers once term 3 starts. Usually most teaching has been completed and there will be very little new stuff left to teach, mostly revisions. I wouldn’t count on the teachers for a formal structure revision plan, as quality of educators varies greatly. Better to work on a schedule/timetable that suits your child.
Just curious, since I have heard so many experienced parents advising to “enjoy” the June holidays…how is the workload going to be like once Term 3 starts? Will the teachers start piling on PSLE past papers for the kids to do? There are only a few topics left to cover for Math/Chinese…do the schools usually have some formal, structured revision plan? Or the teachers will just recap/revise according to their own gauge?[/quote] -
Looking for advice on DSA. My P4 daughter is strong in math and science and we are planning for her to try for NUS High DSA through the Math domain. She has been selected to do the E2K Math in school. Overall Math and Science scores are above 95%.
I have been speaking with some competition math training centers and I was told that NUS High will only consider DSA applicants who are Platinum or Gold medalists for NMOS and SMOPS. Is that true? -

Short answer is that it is not strictly true. Long answer is that while it is not strictly true, the odds for those with certain characteristics/credentials will likely be a lot better than the odds for those without. If you haven't done so already, suggest reading from about page 50 onwards as there is some commentary from a few others about this.

NUSH cohort has historically been made up of kids from ~70 different primary schools so there are still opportunities for students with various backgrounds. Keep in mind the school may be getting up to ~2,000 applications for 170-180 spots. -

Thank you so much for the reply!
Hi! Sorry for the late reply. I missed this.
VA is visual art. The portfolio which my child is submitting was worked on in collaboration with his art school. Art schools are usually very familiar with what should go into the portfolio so they guided my child on what works should be included. The write-ups, however, were done himself.
I'm not sure if you need an art school to help prepare a portfolio but there's an advantage in doing so because they are familiar with what is required. We're also new to this so it's all very alien to us. As such, the art school's guidance and support were helpful to us.

I just received the invitation for my son to sit for SST DSA Phase 1 written test on 22nd of June. Anyone has insights about the test? Thanks

Congrats! The most hardworking school staff huh, sending out emails the earliest among the rest.

Sorry I dont know anything abt the test. Maybe others can help? -
SST DSA schedule is very nice; round 1 during the holidays and round 2 is cleared before PSLE Oral and (likely) prelim written papers.
SOTA also done during the June holidays (application window closed earlier than general MOE portal).
Many others start to conflict with various prelim / PSLE components, although this is a "high class" problem to have… -
I recall in previous years, some trials/auditions/interviews would clash with prelim LC or Orals.
Past 2 years, primary school would help to re-schedule timings, but this year onwards, falls back onto the parents to identify any clashes.
Note that it would be easier to ask own primary school to move the prelim LC/Oral timing for 1 child, than ask secondary school to move a group interview/task.
With this, also be careful of leaking/discussing oral topics as other kids may not have sat for the papers yet. -
Hi Parents,
I was wondering whether anyone has heard back from any of the schools regarding the DSA applications submitted (cut off 1 June)? Just curious as to how long it typically takes for the schools to respond, one way or another. -

For those DSA Secondary schools which u have applied, visit their website. Over there, will inform parents when to expect tests (if any) / interview & notification of outcome. The school would have provided a time-line, indicate roughly when to expect what. Can check yourself.
