There is no such thing as shortlist \"MORE\" candidates, for interview.
Can any kind parents able to advise, for the intw selection, school will shortlist more candidates for the intw, as some will be confirmed under CO or WL? Thank you π
Apart from
these special schools like (SST, NUS High, Sports school, SOTA) -
1)
If you are applying under Academic subject domain,
say, for example
you apply for IP schools like RGS / Nanyang Girls High, SCGS, etc. -
shortlisted students will sit for Round 1 Academic test, first.
If they can clear Round 1,
then,
they will be invited for Round 2 (interview).
After Round 2 (interview),
a) those first choice students whom the school desire - will be offered \"CO\",
while
b) those, not the first choice students - will be offered \"Wait list\"
2) But,
a) if you are applying under Sports domain, Non Academic section, then
the Sports coach will test out shortlisted P6 students' talent, first . If the Sports coach find that they are good, can pass, then proceed to Round 2 (interview).
b)
The same, apply to students applying for \"Performance Arts\" category domain, also non Academic section.
Example
========
Students applying for Dunman High (Music).
Round 1, who test the P6 students in music talent?
Will be the Senior students, inside Dunman High (IP). If P6 students can clear Round 1, then senior students will recommend to school DHS :- which short listed DSA P6 pupil, to be interviewed in Round 2.
Example
========
In 2019 DSA (Dunman High) exercise -
Total,
20+ students were short-listed in Round 1 (Music DSA). The Seniors (DHS students), tested the P6 students, in Round 1.
Finally, out of 20+ P6 Round 1 short-listed students, in the end, 3 students attended an interview, in Round 2. These students can play either a Eastern or Western musical instrument, or a mixture of both. Out of these students, one (my friend's child) turned down the music CO from DHS. Because this child also concurrently received more than one CO, in the end accepted CO offer from another IP school instead. The other two P6 students, not sure whether they accepted or turned down DHS offer.
=========================
Note
=====
Apart from
specialised schools like
(SST / NUS High / Sports school / SOTA) -
For students who have applied under Academic subject domain, if you have managed to clear Round 1 subject test successfully, been invited to attend Round 2,
note that
different Secondary schools, conduct their Round 2, differently :-
3a) in some Secondary schools, Round 2 is just a simple interview. Nothing else.
3b) but in other Secondary schools,
Round 2 may involve doing a mini hands on Performance task in a group of (3 to 4) students first, where some Teachers will observe each DSA pupil quietly,
BEFORE
asking the students to attend interview, at Round 2.
Again, Round 2 interview : 2 types.
Can be a \"solo\" interview, one to one
OR
a group interview, where 3 to 4 P6 students sit together in a group. Teacher asked one question, and every student get a chance to answer.
Different DSA Secondary schools :- different way / style / method / format, of conducting \"Round 2\". -

Anyone applied for performing arts or dance in DHS? Any news so far? -
Just received band dsa audition from DHS this morning. Audition is happening this week.
-
:thankyou:
Does it means that if shortlisted for interview, we will either get CO or WL? Or possibly a chance of rejection (assuming the kid did well for the interview but not good enough as compared to the rest)? Thank you once again. πphtthp\" post_id=\"2113005\" time=\"1688975739\" user_id=\"35251:

Waiting
Wondering if any news about NUSH Selection test results. -
Hi alwwp,
Rejection can take place, when :-
1) students have not been short-listed for DSA at all out front , or
2) after (inspite of) attended an Interview, some still can be rejected, due to great competition in the DSA exercise, where several hundreds of students are "fighting" for limited DSA slots (seats).
Interview is either the
"make it" or "break it" outcome.
Yes,
after attending an interview, outcome can be any of these :-
a) receive CO (Confirmed Offer)
b) put on Wait list
c) rejected
In 2019 DSA exercise,
a number of girls from various primary schools all over Singapore applied to both IP schools (RGS + Nanyang Girls High), under "Maths" subject academic domain.
After attended interview in both schools, some of them have received rejection notification, from both these two schools. -
