Ah interestingly, our audition was on 1 July and not 23 June. Yeah kinda felt the same but hoping for a reply to close the chapter... 🙃

Please don’t assume anything. The staff are doing things manually with tables and probably excel files. So it will take time.

Did anyone receive any update from TJC following MEP selection trial ?

I'm asking because kid attended the selection trial and I wonder if there's another round of interview because there was a short interview conducted during the day of audition.

During the selection trial at Temasek Junior College, ask your son or daughter : who actually interviewed him (her), that day ?

Was it those Senior students, who interviewed him (her) ? Was the school Principal or VP around, when they interviewed him (her), that day ?

If is only those few Senior students who interviewed him (her) during the selection trial that day, without the presence of neither VP nor P around,
then

Yes, definitely there will be Round (2) formal interview, together with the DSA Teacher present, overall in charge of selecting / picking students for the Music DSA domain talent, together with either the P or VP present, provided

your child gets short-listed, for Round (2) interview.

Sometimes, if P is busy, then VP will attend & take over or vice versa.

Why ?

Because

only the P or VP, together with the DSA Music Teacher overall in charge, have the authority to decide : whether to give CO or Wait list or rejection, to short-listed applicants. Those few Senior students cannot, they don't have this authority to. They are merely students, though they may be Senior(s) in school, either in Sec 2 or in Upper Sec.

Hi any idea which domain was that? Cos there were still ongoing trials only last Sat 15 Jul.

The staff referred to those sports trials on 8 July, a number of sports on that day such as track and field, Taekwondo (I guess based on the uniform), badminton etc. as well as Visual Arts. The staff could have referred to those trials / tests happening before the day of the call (12 July).

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure the the P or VP is around but pretty sure the there were 2 or more teachers in charge of DSA for music specifically around during the interview and audition. It's seemed to me like a panel (Def no students around) but I merely waited at one side and did not enter so I couldn't be sure.

Also from the kid's explanation, the questions posed were similar to what we would have expected for the supposed interview. And there were pretty clear explanation given on what to expect when selected specifically to the CCA that kid could pick from. Hence I wonder if there would be another interview if it's to answer the same set of qns.

Different schools conduct Round (1) musical talent test, differently. The one I mentioned where Senior students conducted Round (1) interview, was from Dunman High.

For Temasek JC Round (1) selection test, u mentioned 2 teachers present. Can verify with your son / daughter, did they ask him (her) serious questions like (example) ...

1) why or what make u apply to our Temasek JC, for music talent domain ?

How or what do u think of ... TJC ?


Which other Secondary schools did u also apply to, besides us (TJC) and for which Talent domain ?


2) can u tell us more about yourself ?

What are some of your strength(s) & weakness(es) ?


3) in your free time, how do u occupy yourself ? Where do your interests or passion, lie in ?


4) have u got any experience so far, in composing any musical pieces, from scratch ?

Who is your favorite musician ?
Why ?

5) is there any role model in this world that u look up to, with great respect, be it in the music world or otherwise. May we know, who is your role model, or source of inspiration ?

6) in what way, can u contribute to TJC or .... why should we choose u ?

I don't think I'll call coz tjc stated on the website that they don't entertain phone enquiries. I'll get kid to focus on psle prep instead of stressing if there's a round 2 since we did all we could.

We received an email on 19th June asking to submit supporting and subsequently another email on 6th July to rank our preference for sports trial day and time slots. There are 3 slots provided. Will hear back from them soon on 21st July on the allocated slot. Trials are all happening in Aug.
