How many WLs do schools normally issue? Is it the same number for IPs school? Thanks in advance.

I think this is subjective. Depends on which school and also individual cohort mentality.
What are the chances of WL converting to CO?
Example: I heard NUSH waitlist has been 100% converted if child puts NUSH as 1st choice. This is 'proven' by the fact that they still have vacancies at SIE.
Another example is HCI waitlist based on 'hearsay' is also almost all converted if put as 1st choice. This is based on experience from parents in the past years, no evidence.
I also heard of schools that have no WL converted because all their COs did put them as 1st choice.
If the school is really what you child wants, just put the WL as 1st choice. Never try never know.
I know some who are intending to not put 2nd or 3rd choices down though they have other schools' COs. They just want the school which they got WL, and if can't get then use results to get in.
Tough decision but you have to weigh it out and do some research on the school's WL converting history. -
