Its anyone's guess and normally school do not want to commit in giving out a number. This question had been asked before and the teacher in charge said \"Chances are high.\" As there's too many variants, its really difficult to know.

At this point, just take it positively as there's still a possibility instead of a direct rejection.
But at the same time, prepare for a back up/alternative.

All the best to the WL candidates (including my girl)! May we hear some good news in Nov!

On the point about sports WL having higher chance of conversion, I thought it was previously shared that the chance of conversion depends on the rank of WL at which the kids are. So when there’s a CO given up, the child who ranks highest will be converted first regardless of the domain. Please enlighten. Is it the WL ranking or the domain ranking?

          Very useful reply. Thank you.

Can submitting additional achievements in the talent area since the application was made help in the conversion from WL to CO? Or can the WL order the school has set not be changed now?

Any idea if we can approach the school to ask where we are in the WL? The school has called all the CO/WL for a session after PSLE. So trying to gather as much data before that as possible.

In the past, some people have guessed/observed/said that the sports WLs have a better chance of conversion (all else the same). I cannot confirm firsthand, but I think it is probably true.

First, the domain intake for any sport / CCA is likely a small number of students (at least relative to some of the academic domains). As a result, the coaches may have some idea of who will accept / who will go elsewhere. Second, if you think some of your COs will not accept, you may have a strong desire to field the team with your next choice of players. Additionally, the number of WLs for sports may be managed quite closely, both in relation to the aforementioned points and the total team size.

For example, if your team has X players in the match/on the court/field/pitch/whatever, taking in 0.1X is going to pose challenges for the team. Similarly, taking in 2X players is not ideal either. In contrast, whether your academic domain fluctuates +/- 5 (for the larger domains) probably isn't a big deal. Many capable kids will enter via S1 as well.

As for the IP schools, some are rumored/known to have a high chance of conversion. As mentioned before, there will be kids with three COs and they can only accept one, so this will free up some spaces. Next, the fact that very few COs are given up does not mean the chance of WL conversion is low. What matters is how many WLs the school issued. For example, if a school typically has 10-15 COs given up year after year and they issue 12 WLs, the odds are pretty good.

Good luck to all and best of luck for the written PSLE papers.

You can certainly approach the school to ask. Whether they are willing to say anything is another issue 😄 .

I don't know on your first question. Most likely (my guess only) the WL order has already been set based on a number of considerations and won't be changed.

            Best of luck and regards.

By all accounts, when a CO is given up the space goes to the next kid on the WL, regardless of domain.

As for the higher chance of conversion, this is likely a statement that at best applies on average. But it is not inconsistent with the WL conversion being domain agnostic. I would guess that most schools have domains that get priority (want to make sure these needs are met). Which domains probably varies by school.

Sorry if I gave the impression that all sports will convert first. As you've replied, it doesn't always happen. Different sports may have different priorities within a school and even WLs issued within the same domain may have different priorities (based on a number of things).

I think there’s definitely chances of WL being converted as many received more than 1 CO for IP schools. Hope for the best!

That’s nice to know. In my circle of friends, I haven’t heard of many that receive COs from IP schools.
