My friend’s son did not have any Olympiad experience or accolades at all. Simply AL1 and Math & Science (other subjects not so stellar), coupled with strong interest in robotics (no awards either). The main selection is via the entrance test. And then interview/group activity project. He got WL which was converted in the end. -

There is strong indication SST acceptance (SUTD for tertiary level) is based on like 35% academics and 65% passions for STEM. So base on this, the more important question you have to ask yourself/ your child is, how much passion is there for STEM. There is a reason why SST admissions are via DSA only.

At least,
your kid gets the chance to take the 1st test and if he passes Round 1 test, then will proceed to attend Round 2 test (SST). Whether your son can get into SST or not, a lot will depend on the performance of those 2 tests conducted.
For Catholic High,
u can still try if that is his dream school but just to let u know that
your kid will be putting up with
many more other stronger P6 competitors (boys) who are armed with very strong achievement(s) in Maths , than what your kid currently has. -

for those who are offered SST COs but gave them up in the end
because
these students decided to go to some other DSA school instead,
then
SST \"given up CO\" vacancies will be released to those, on Wait-lists. -
