Hi , can check since the report book already has participation in school games and won 1st tier, we won't be required to fill that in right? also any idea if edusave awards are not included in the report book, should we also state in the boxes provided? thank you!
Yes, all MOE/school related events, competition and achievement no need to fill in - this includes NSG results, math/science olympiad, Edusave awards/scholarship, etc...

You can fill in other things like private music/art/sports lessons, performance or any other interest/competition like for example rubics cube competition etc...

I actually filled up about 4-5 slots only cos nothing much to put 😂

Whilst the child's school will have a record of 'all' MOE-related activities, competitions and results, be mindful that it may not be as detailed as you need it to be for DSA application.

        For example:
Your child may have come in Top 4 in Volleyball Team Nationals Competition. He/She is also the Team Captain and first choice player in XXX position. In addition to designated school training days, your child is also a Coaching Assistant to lower Primary schoolmates.

But in school records that will be automatically shared with your target DSA secondary school, it may only read \"Top 4 in Volleyball Team Nationals Competition\". Missing out plenty of details and there may be another 10+ teammates with same generic profile as your child.

Do check with your child's existing school on what's on record. You may wish to enter all those extra stuff in your application, even if it's already part of school activities.

For example, you can even include swimsafer gold/silver/bronze cert if you want.

Nope. If this is the same book that I recall browsing thru before at a bookstore, it is way outdated.

Look at the back cover blurb: tips on GAT (no longer used by any school), personal statement (only used by RI and RGS currently, I believe). This was for the era pre-MOE portal.

If this is an online purchase from Carousell, ask the seller to snapshot the year of publication. And also the chapter on personal statement to see if relevant for your target school.

Do check in with the school, what they would submit for your child. Some schools only include the bare min, for eg, only if you win medals or awards, participation only is not included. My DS’s school did not include even E2K as they deem it as enrichment. An optional cohort-wide sustainability project was also excluded because they deem it as “cohort-wide”, nothing special. I beg to defer because it does show interest.

I personally feel you can also include piano, swim safer, self-defence or any other external trainings your child may have. I think this may show that the child is well-rounded and can manage well, especially if the child does well academically.

Thank you for sharing! I think the book was published in 2016. Will check the book out if i can find it in a bookstore.

Thought your child is in some niche sport so likelihood is everyone knows everybody so you should know your chance ya? Anyways if no chance why waste time hahaha 🤣
No lah, my eldest is in a team sport where she is the super sub, best water carrier and ultimate cheerleader. Unfortunately (or fortunately), the school didn’t list them down and only reflect the medals / placing (the team is quite good though) 😂

She didn’t choose those popular top tier schools so I think she will probably do ok (in the land of the blind, I hope the one eye is king).

For the non-acad achievements, I list down things like achieved highest score in HK Disneyland Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, stay awake for 24hr watching YouTube in aid of her brother’s charity drive (to buy himself a toy) etc to show that she’s also an equally well rounded person.

                        Hi,

Anyone knows how is NUS High shortlisting done?

And what is the format of exams… similar to PSLE?

                        Thanks in advance.
