My children Sec school conduct trial for CCA too during Sec 1, for most of sports cca. My children whom have no background in sports, went on to uniform group and band. The standards have been raised for cca domains, unlike us parent time where cca were more for “recreational” in general. Let those kids with more talent in those cca domains join those sport cca bah.
This is true for CCA trials in almost all secondary schools nowadays. Whether or not the trials are thrown open to all comers to attend/give it a go, the reality is the recreational players and/or beginners are never good enough to be selected. My kid enjoyed some of his sports trials experiences (I think it was nice of the school/coaches to spend time to “entertain” the noobs), but he already knew zero chance to enter sports CCA.

Totally happy with his uniformed group CCA though. Only once a week, whereas those in sports CCAs spend a gruelling 2-3 afternoons a week & grades all suffering. Child must be able to manage time & energy well. I guess they will learn along the way.

If need LEAPS points for O levels, pick uniformed group. My tip.

Yea, My kids’ Sec school principal said before, among all CCAs, uniform groups provide the best all round developments

                        Hi!

Any parents already heard from ACS (I) DSA through STEM?
Understand their shortlist results was supposed to be after 15 Jun 23.
Not sure if we’ve already been dropped.

                        Thanks!

                        Regards
