Thanks. I had read previously in the DSA 2022 thread that some schools won't shortlist you for DSA interview if your total AL score (for pri 5 and pri 6 mid year) is outside of their cut off score as they fear you might not be able to keep up with the academic rigour of the school. DSA is our only way to get into IP schools like NJC and ACS(I) since the best PSLE score my child can get is 9, which is outside of the cut off score for most of these IP schools.
Most schools will accept a wider range of scores for DSA consideration. For most IP schools, they will most likely be willing to consider < AL13 (note: don’t have a lot of info since AL is still new, but previously, students with t-score ~230+ have gotten CO, thus, we can make an educated guess).

My third choice, if I’m you, will likely be a school with both IP and O (similar to ACS(I)) and indicating no preference (same for ACS) to widen my options and opportunities.

        Riding on fy2000jp2's sharing,

Heard from one of my students, who went for Music (Performing) or Music (Creating), that one of the questions asked was \"which fictional character best represents you\".
HCI DSA-Eng interviewer also asked similar Q \"which character best represent you\" 😄

I stand corrected on the source of the poems. After I stuffed the kid with a good dinner  , he shared with me 10 lines he remembered from the WAR poem. I located the poem and the poet . The kid got 10 of the 13lines correct ! :hugs: Here's his 10 lines

Questions related to analysis of poem? Or questions asking for opinions of the theme of war?

Interesting choice of poem, especially given the recent Geopolitical situation in Europe.

                Hi all,

If one scored well for the other 3 subjects(AL1) but failed MT, what are the chances for a successful DSA?

could parents advice , for students who have AL of between 10 to 14 , what are the chances of being selected for DSA auditions. We are thinking of concert band and kid wants to try IP school. Should we even attempt so as to not waste the choices?

I believe that the schools are more keen on the child's talent than academic results. As long as you're child is doing reasonably OK (10-14 seems OK), I don't foresee a big issue if your child is pursuing an artistic talent. So, demonstrating talent (through awards, certifications, performances and other forms of recognition) is likely to carry your child further in the DSA process than academic standing.

AL10 is not very far from AL8. I think what matters more is which band instrument the child specialises in.

                        LeeTaiTai,

I recalled that your eldest daughter, born in 2007, was from RGPS, last time. If you refer back to RGPS thread, your comments made are still there.

                        Is it
your (2nd or 3rd daughter's) turn now, for DSA ?

Which Secondary school is your daughter keen to target, now?
                        RGS or NYGH ?

Just give these 2 schools a call.
Since they are both IP schools,
                        just ask them -

                        \"
What is the lowest, minimum AL score that RGS / NYGH can possibly accept,
for DSA students coming in with instrument domain, band talent ?

Since your RGS / NYGH official Cut off point is AL 6,

add back another 2 more points,

                        is AL ... 8,
the lowest possible acceptable DSA score limit, to enter RGS / NYGH ?

                        Why ?

                        Because

Even if we want our kid to enter by DSA into the Top IP schools (RGS / NYGH),
                        surely the DSA entry score
                        cannot be too far off,
from the actual official Cut off point, right ?

                        =============================

                        By the way,
                        isn't your eldest daughter,
                        born in 2007,

already studying inside RGS or NYGH now, in year 2022 Year 3 ?
                        So,
since your daughter is already studying inside the Top IP school, isn't it easy for u (parent),
to get hold of insight first hand info, readily ? \"

                        \"
