Actually RI sent the gift to my son’s school already. Just that school wants to give out his prize in end of year prize ceremony. Overall fun to play for once but not worth the trouble to study too hard for it.

what’s the rough breakdown of gold, silver and bronze medal for the RSO? Anyone knows? Is it similar to SPSO, those who got into 2nd round likely get a silver? Those who did not get into 2nd round will not even get any certificates?

My boy just received his certificate so I am updating here now.

For RSO, those who got into 2nd round does not guarantee a medal. There are gold, silver, bronze, merit and honourable mention.

There is no breakdown available as there is no award ceremony. The certificates are sent to the school for distribution. There are no medals or gifts.

This year, 2018, 43 qualified to the 2nd round out of 400 plus participants.

You can cull the list of schools based on the final results since 2010. Not the full picture, but would be quite a long list.

My girl will be going for the SPSO at NUSH on 5/7/2019.

Selection/registration etc were all done by the school. Parents were just asked to pay and to send/fetch the kid to and from the test venue.
I didn’t send her to any preparation class etc, but I bought this "science Olympiad book" ( the one with the parrot on the cover) from Popular today. And looking at the content, most are not covered in the PSLE syllabus.
Don’t think she will do very well in the test. but more for exposure and experience.
