Just wondering, has there been cases of the same kid selected for both the Science Olympiad and Maths Olympiad? Then can this 1 kid go for both on representing S'pore? How come Maths Olympiad is more famous than Science? And also Maths Olympiad has more emphasis than Science?

The kid would have to choose either one as during imso, both Sci and maths with conduct at the same time. Last yr there are one such case.
Last yr imso clashed with p5 gep final yr exam, so affected students got to postpone school exam abt a week later. Quite hectic for them as they need to revise exam plus go for imso.

So which one did the student chose last year?

I just bought a Science Olympiad Training book for primary school, advance and intermediate, in Popular. Both of the books are great and interesting. The explanations are also clear. My kid loves it!

Possible to post the cover of the book? By which author/publisher?

          Thanks!

The book is from fairfield publisher, with a cover picture of two parrots with a blue or pink background.

                  Hi pixiedust

So far dd had completed two set of the assessments and some quesitons like food web, electrical, light and energy ete are quite relevent to what they have studied. There are also challenging questions beyong her knolwedge but the explanation part is quite helpful.

Tell her not to worry about those question that she may not understand now as we can still keep this book when she move up to Secondary school.

We take it as the supplement to those P6 prelim paper MCQ.

Hope the abvoe inforamtion is helpful. šŸ˜‚

My DS is selected by his school to attend science olympiad lessons, conducted by 3rd party vendor. He is in P3.

Anyone knows what are the Science Olympiad competition available for 2012? & for which level?

I believe cchew's post on page 3 is still relevant except for the dates and venue, of course. Each school can sign up to 7 pupils.

Thanks aqeqiq for pointing me to the right source. I've managed to re-read cchew's post and on SPSO.
The Science Olympiad competition organized by SPSO is for P5 only and it's conducted annually.

Haha, so the science enrichment lessons my DS will be attending has nothing to do with this year Science Olympaid competition.

By the way, which science enrichment centre is strong at science olympaid competition training? DS is currently doing MO class @Math Arena and he is showing strong interest in Science as well. I am still thinking hard and trying to justify if I should send him for science olympaid class... He's been bugging me for it as he is currently not attending any science tuition/enrichment class.
