Anyway, I am feeling so mentally and physically exhausted and very guilty cos PSLE is near. Wasted so much time and energy on the poor stray dog since yesterday.
there is no way you can keep the dog as you are already so busy.
even attending to the dog yesterday took up a lot of time which could have been spent on revising for next week's PSLE oral.
but you done a good deed saving the dog, feeding and housing it. with the dog around, the girls would be distracted from their work.

So you going to continue housing it?
Wa, this question is going to cause me many sleepless nights!
No answer for the time being; SPCA can’t really help and while my kids would like to keep it, my MIL quite furious now.

@Esteema, someone told me by calling the SPCA, very likely the dog would be put to sleep if they couldn’t find the owner within 2 weeks.

@Am, SIL came and saw the dog. Commented that its beautiful fur was the result of a good diet from its owner. Very likely doggie just needed to eat and sleep on most days till it became obese and lost it’s muscles. Most ppl I spoke to think it’s abandoned.

@Janet, yes, am feeling guilty now. The girls are overwhelmed but at the same time, distracted.

You can try calling SPCA coz we tried looking for dogs to adopt at one time & met many young families there searching too. Heard fr the helpers there that there are regular visitors there to take care of favourite dogs when it wasn't conducive to bring home.

I think there are a few other dog re-homing organizations tt pair yr temporary fostering with someone looking for a companion. In fact, they do home visits & follow-ups to ensure the dogs are genuinely taken care of. I just don't hv their contacts off-hand. Met some groups last year.

Can ava trace the dog owner thru microchip? The dog looks cute, pitiful. I hv the feelings that the owner might be a foreigner? Simply abandoned the dog before going bk to their country..

U hv done a good deed. 好人会有好报 😄

Now we are not sure if the dog was lost or the owner abandoned it.

Doggie doesn’t eat those dried kibbles unless I mix with half a can of mashed beef. It is very guai, doesn’t move much and doesn’t bark at all, weird. Sis told me to put newspaper and towel for it to pee and poo.

Anyway, I am feeling so mentally and physically exhausted and very guilty cos PSLE is near. Wasted so much time and energy on the poor stray dog since yesterday.
Leeyl , u have done a v good deed n it’s coz of your kind heart . your kindness bank account is increasing in heaven , it’s fate to meet the poor doggie 😉 I feel it’s abandoned too -
Maybe owner migrated or gone (?) how to b hard hearted to let go of a 7 yo dog ( assuming 7 yrs relationship with a life , sigh 😞
Though u are busy n stressed up now , but U have saved a life - that’s a big deal ! setting gd learnings to your kids about kindness as well .
If u n dh can’t adopt long term , continue check spca - GR is a good n expensive breed - quite high chance people will adopt .

                :hugs:

Obesity itself is a reflection of neglect. It means the owner did not bother to take it out for walks, and just kept food there over a long period of time.

I would think the dog was not regularly bathed as well by the last owner. Since it can barely walk, it is unlikely that it wandered off and got lost. If anything, it just wants to plonk itself down in a safe house, judging by its reaction to a leash. If it had been wandering around for some time, it would have been slimmer or dehydrated or have some surface wounds given its relative haplessness. So my guess is it was recently abandoned and there is no point putting up flyers.

You may still want to look up the microchip. There is a possibility that it had wandered off from original owner and was found and kept by someone else who was not prepared for the commitment.

please don't keep the dog. it's not healthy PLUS your girls are going to be very distracted. sweetie, you are extremely busy already. don't let the dog add on more work and stress.

if I have a dog at home, my daughter will be totally distracted and want to play with it all the time.

I realized I have been planning the kids' schedules for 12 years. it's stressful, just like the person managing finance at home but I am glad my kids are systematic and disciplined because I started them at a young age.

average life span of GR is around 12 to 14 years. Assuming the GR is already 7 years old, roughly another 7 more years of life span.
