We don't usually eat at restaurants either. But this is a special occasion (wedding anniversary yesterday). In the end, we're feeling too lazy to go further or try a new place, so we'll probably just go to a sushi place nearby. Our main purpose is to just chill and talk anyway, not the food.

            Happy anniversary!

If food is not important, you can consider Hoshino Coffee at ion. The mains are mediocre but the booths make it a good place for sitting and talking. The hot fruit tea is recommended.

Lobby Lounge at shangrila has a lovely atmosphere especially when there is a jazz singer but be warned that the menu is limited and food may be disappointing to locals.

If food is important, sun with moon at wheelock can be lovely if you get the tables near the window. The bill depends on what you order but the food and service are usually quite good.

Do call ahead to see if you can make reservations for Friday and weekends.

You can try Bakalaki Greek Tavern (3 Seng Poh Road, Tiong Bahru) next year. Had my birthday gathering there last year. Excellent authentic Greek cuisine and Greek beverages.

Dempsey, Keong Saik F&Bs aren't too bad. Take your pick!

National Kitchen (National Gallery / Ion) is almost like our family kitchen as inlaws kept requesting for this place for special occasions.

I also recommend Dancing Fish Signature (4th flr, Tang Plaza, formerly Island Café) which is from KL. Treated parents to some delicious Indonesian cuisine. *Dr M ate there last year.

FOC Spanish restaurant (40 Hong Kong St). Also did a birthday there. Delectable Catalan tapas, paella, sangria, etc. Authentic.

there are many apps offering up to 50% discount at some restaurants (during off peak hours) which we have been taking advantage of. That's always cheaper ways to pay for an experience.

Our bill usually hovers around $90-$100 for the two of us. Maybe because we tend to order the usual stuff and quantity. Today’s meal, we didn’t order seafood, and for meat, only half serving of sliced Kurobuta which I don’t find it great compared to those I have eaten at Japanese restaurants.

Their 酸辣粉 is really delicious. Today also tried their 酒酿圆子,glutinous rice balls in fermented rice wine, lacked the pungent rice wine taste though.

Guess if more pax sharing the soup base, per head would be cheaper? I always go for 4 types of soups of which one is clear water ($0). I get to drink 3 types of soup ($6 for each soup X3 =$18) and the cost is cheaper than I go for 2 soup base ($10 each soup X 2 = $20). :?

Today’s 3 bones collagen soup and 酸菜 soup came as a delightful surprise to us. Next round we gonna try the 青椒soup.

sounds tasty ..! 2 pax a$100 also high side , u ordered 好料 喔 . i din try with my family yet,
went twice hdl, once beauty pot - all were above $50 pax .
my ds said his classmates went, they paid each abt mid $20s ... probably they order normal meat only,

HDL is very expensive indeed. I don't even know if their Kurobuta is from Japan. Anyway, I always order Pork Collar instead of Kurobuta. The former is good. As for Beef, I only pick US beef on its menu.

Their Homemade Tofu's the best. Not the silken type.

I pick only 2 soups (more expensive) : Mala and Black Chicken (with many free mushrooms inside; bang for buck).
