I've never handled poles individually. Are your poles overhead? If you have one of those systems which can lower the poles to within your arm's reach, that helps. I once rented a flat that had that kind of system, but my current flat has poles overhead. I use hangers for larger items (shirts, trousers, skirts etc). Hanging small items on hangers is fiddly, so I have a 4-tier rack for underwear etc. Alternatively, I've used those hangers with multiple clothes pegs for hanging small items then hang the whole thing on a pole. Try various ways and you'll find something that works for you.
I've been using the old fashioned way of hanging clothes on the bamboo all these years. as the morning sun is very hot...so the shorts are on the first pole facing the sun. now I have to use hangers for everything. I have a rack to hang underwear and socks. now i need to get the hangers with multiple pegs for drying long pants/jeans.

          Janet

You settled well in your new home?
I use hangers for most clothes. I hang them on my louvre. The challenge is when washing bedsheets.

I use a hanger for trousers/jeans too - I turn the trousers inside out and insert the hanger into the waist of the trousers. If it tends to slip off, I slide the \"hook\" part of the hanger into a belt loop or use a clothes peg to hold the trousers on the hanger. That way I don't need special hangers for trousers.

I am sure you have sweet dreams

For such massive washing, must choose a real hot day

I use hangers for quilt covers too - I use 2 hangers, one on each side, and hang each cover so it forms a 'U' shape. I stagger the washing so I only have at most 2 to hang at a time. After a day of hanging, I finish off with 20 mins in the dryer.
