You hv 2 more years to wait? Not long lah. Look at it positively, yl hv to go thro PSLE 2 years in a row. You hv a breather & time to move to new home & enjoy before next PSLE comes along mah.

Though life is boring, at least it’s carefree.
Once a week I must go to Orchard. The type of fragrance they use in the malls, it is so therapeutic.
Pros and cons of being FTWM and SAHM. FTWM can chitchat with colleagues and go out with kakis during lunch. Quite fun. As a SAHM, if I overspend, I see black face from my paymaster, if you know what I mean.
@Estee, Ohh... I hate those 2 years with PSLE just at the back of my mind. Many nights I had trouble sleeping and hair turned grey real fast. Come A levels, they should be old enough to take charge on their own!
@LC, You have no intention to go back to work? My BFF rejoined the work force this year, after a gap of 14 years, after her youngest got into GEP. -

Carefree, yes, but I think it gets boring after a while. I've been there, done that, too. After my kids were settled back into Singapore school with fairly long hours, I found that I was getting quite bored and aimless. I had been out of the workforce for 17 yrs. I've found that a 50-70% working schedule seems to be the optimum for me - I used to work from home mainly (which I enjoyed), but not many jobs are designed that way. Now I work 50% in an office, with some additional freelance work from home. Finances haven't changed much as what I earn hardly makes any difference to our household income!
Though life is boring, at least it’s carefree.

I still do the housework, cooking etc, have some flexibility in working hours, but I like feeling that I am doing something constructive with my mind and my time. At 50yo, I felt too young to \"retire\", and having just turned 55yo, I don't think I plan to for a long time more. -
Actually, I dunno whether I can continue my job past 55yo - sometimes, it can get really busy /stressful n make me feel v tired at home. I hope by then , i can just count casually by the year n be thankful for a job.
Frankly, i also dunno what to do if i am to stay at home whole day .... i may end up just watching tv or reading most time -dislike doing house chores alone , i need dh to share the load

Am 51 this year. I share the same feelings as you.
My boss is not that supportive and I have quite a hard time working with him since am the type who takes all work and things seriously. He is the type who wants "the horse to run w/o eating grass".
OTOH, if I can take things lightly, I can don’t bother what he said. Afterall, it is just work, time in, time out, collect pay.
Life is really so unpredictable. A female colleague (age before 62) passed away due to cancer. It was not unexpected but still shocked colleagues.
Life is short and fragile. I have lots of things not yet done or enjoy eg Alaska cruise, trip to US, Safari in Africa etc.
Because of $$, I continue to work.
My life is miserable and am not happy at all/ -
after stopping work for a long time, I think it is quite difficult to take that baby step out back to workforce…I like to work but somehow just feel weighed down…shouldn’t have stopped work completely if can…as to near retirement, I think better not to slow down completely too unless you have a good plan as to how to spend your time…dd now only at what age, dont need me already, in terms of studies …I feel so tired, just took a short nap…I told myself earlier this year not to sleep late but now need to dong till about/past midnight worry dd not sleeping, I got to go to her room, open the door quitely, hey go to sleep…she will put her finger on her lips, shhhh…and nod her head amd sometimes wave the hand tell me go out…how like this? I start to miss those time when I feel I m much more bigger than them, I say you listen…

I cannot see myself not working. As it is each time things slow down, I will look for new things to do. 3yrs ago I wondered what I have gotten myself into when I started this new venture. At that time I said no more, this will be the last acquisition or start up. It was a hectic 1st year and by the end of the 2nd year, things fell into place and everything was chugging along. Now I am getting restless again. How to stop working like that?
