Under the new PSLE scoring system, students’ performance in each subject is graded using Achievement Levels (ALs) ranging from AL1 to AL8, with AL1 being the highest. These levels are then summed to form the student’s overall PSLE score, ranging from 4 to 32, with a lower score indicating better performance. This change aims to differentiate students more clearly and reduce the fine differentiation that the T-score system previously emphasized.

One of the key features of the new PSLE scoring system is the focus on students’ individual learning progress rather than a relative comparison against their peers. This approach is intended to create a more balanced educational experience, allowing students to explore their interests and talents beyond academic achievements.
