Preparing For O-Levels

It is not uncommon for students to drop their grades in sec3 as there is a big jump from sec2-3. But with good guidance, students in sec 3 can catch up and excel in their O levels.
I engaged one ex MOE teacher who specialises in teaching Mathematics and Social Studies for O levels students. He had been teaching in a well-known school for a few years and had produced remarkable results. Most importantly, he is patient and teaches according to his students' pace. Heard that he is conducting June holiday workshop next month for Social studies.

For sec 3 usually school covers abt 80% of the school syllabus for the subjects. For sec 4 sch coverss the rest and mostly will do revision. Sec 3 is rather impt. Can try get pte tuition or enrol to tuition centre. For effectiveness, can go for one to one pte tuition.

Anyone has kids taking O levels as private candidate ? Possible to take only 1 or 2 subjects & at age below 16 ? Can advise how should we go about it ? Thanks !

-its not only about reading is also about understanding the grammer and vocab
-do situational writing and composition every week(chinese languages as well
-do comprehension every 3 days(understand,how they get the answer)
-try to borrow books from the library(teenagers section)

My dd will be taking o levels next year. Does anyone have any preparation tips to share? I am a bit worried cos she has not done well for literature for this CA, which is the only humanities subject she has. Biology & chemistry are also in the B range.

Which school is he from? My son is also in Sec 3 this year. He also complain that his maths papers are very difficult. He hasn't get back the results yet. Maybe somehow warning me first of his results firstworriedparent:
My son has done very badly in his Sec 3 Mid-Year Exam, esp in his core subjects of E. Maths, A. Maths, Physics and Chemistry.

Definately good advice is to start early in preparing for the OLevels. Most of the students I have seen get A’s got serious about preparation around the June timeframe. What can be tough are some of the early Sec 3 topics since it was more than a year ago for many students. That’s why I start on those in my June Physics classes.

Think he can just chiong 10-year series. but this year seems to be a new syllabus though. For science and math, it is possible to self-learn and practice, but for languages its a little bit different. My son's math and science are ok so he can cope. He had some problems with his languages so he went for this course at

Quite a good improvement in grades I must say. Apparent the trainer taught them all sorts of exam-smart techniques. As for his Chinese, we are engaging a private tutor, but so far not much results. My family speaks English most of the time mixed with a bit of hokkien, so I think his exposure to Chinese is not enough. The only time he gets to practice Chinese is when he speaks with some of my business partners from China. If anybody got good recommendation on Chinese please let me know also. few months left before the exams
