      Hello,

Any recommendations for delicious and not so expensive rice dumplings? Saw from tv that there was rice dumplings with an abalone inside selling at 10 bucks!
      Thanks.

I saw abalone dumpling sold at Sheng Siong Supermarket.
Did not take note of the price cos i thought it would be weird eating abalone dumpling. I like the nyonya chang from Glory. It really reminds me of my nyonya granny's.

So Sheng Siong supermarket may be selling this unique abalone rice dumpling. Am thinking since we have such a great variety for mooncakes, why not rice dumplings.
      Thanks for sharing.

        Happy Mama:
:thankyou: Maid... Making dumplings is not difficult but the folding of the dumplings into nice triangles requires great skill. 😉

Sometimes I'm so tempted to just make them in trays and in layers i.e. first layer, glutinous rice, followed by the ingredients and then covered with glutinous rice again. 😉
Actually I don't find making dumplings difficult too especially with the help of the big pressure cooker (6 litre pot) that my mum has, and it cooks in a breeze, but don't think I will be making any this year.

Haha, you remind me of a friend. He used to say, \"Why so troublesome, must wrap the dumplings? Just mix the rice and the filling and eat them like rice and dishes, after all, everything goes into the SAME stomach!\" :rotflmao:

          Happy Mama:
DD told me her school is taking orders for dumplings. I asked her why she didn't get money from us for the dumplings.

She said \"$3 for one dumpling, so expensive! I won't pay!\" I told her it's ok, mummy would give her the money for it but she insisted she wasn't willing to pay $3 for a dumpling. :slapshead: :faint:

So now I will need to buy from the stalls selling dumpling. By the way, when is dumpling day?
$3 a dumpling is expensive, and considering that you can eat dumpling whole year round, it is not worthwhile to pay for it at this period, unless it is the specical type you can't get the rest of the year. Unlike mooncake, when you can buy and eat once a year only, will pay more for it.

You can have mooncakes all year round too if you make your own ... which is what I do!
