      Hi Vanilla Coke,

Congratulations for the good results ! Well done ! My son also scored 260+, and got admitted to HCI already.

Yes, you can use the additional points from HCL to get into the SAP schools. I think this year's cut off will not be that high, so you can always try Nanyang Girls, followed by Dunman. But for RGS, no, you cannot use the additional points.

I don't know how many left for NJC, but I think you can safely assume 50% of the vacancies left. NJC first year intake is 150. The other school's total Sec 1 vacancy should be around 400. So assume 50% taken up for DSA, you get 200+ vacancy.

Finally, one chapter closed for your primary school life ! 😄

        Vanilla Cake:
        I am in a dilemma.Based on last year's COP :

        Dunman High School - 260
National Junior College (Secondary Section ) - ?
Nanyang Girls' High School - 265
        Raffles Girls' School (Secondary ) - 266
River Valley High School - 254

I got 260. Could I use merit in HCL to add 2 bonus points to become 262 if I apply for SAP schools? Heard that DHS's COP is very high and that those getting borderline COPs do not automatically get into DHS.

        Hi Lizawa,

After deducting DSA students, how many left for S1 intake for NJC?
Any chance for me to get into NJC since this is the first year that they are taking Sec 1 students for IP? Will the COP be high ?

        Warmest regards.
plus bonus point, you got 262. 99% you will secure a place in DHS. this year's COP will be lower than last year

Hi there, I'm a new member of Kiasu Parents. I chanced upon this site while searching for the latest PSLE results.

Anyway, about the IP programme, it is such that students are given tons of assignments to do. I guess the objective is that in doing the endess research. they will absorb and assimilate the information. It's all very independent and very similar to varsity style of writing thesis.
As in all schools and in my child's IP school, there are teachers who are good instructors and there are those who couldn't be bothered whether they are effective or not. The important thing is parents need to give feedback to the admin on their grouses or concerns.
I think in a unisex school, girls will face more social problems fitting in. A fair amount of bullying based on financial and racial status and physical appearances goes on all the time and are often vicious. This is where the form teachers come in to control and do counselling but very few do that now.
For the boys, it's a lot of alpha male aka cavemen behaviour as they try to out-ego one another through bragging. Bullying is likely physical but not as vicious. An ACS(I) boy in mainstream studies told me that the teachers sayang the IB boys and treat the mainstream ones as if they were morons. What it means i leave it to you to consider.
Oops, I have digressed abit...all in all, the IP programme is pretty heavy because it is accelerated learning and students are expected to continue to perform all the time.
Do go to schools and check out the school environment and see how the students (many of them are always around) behave.
Those who may want to appeal should be warned that some school interviewers are really harsh and it is common to find students coming out in tears. For the interviews, be prepared, confident and maybe alittle brash. 🙂

I think she has a good chance. I feel that the cut off this year should be lower than last year's. But again, most of the time, girls tend to do better in PSLE. But since posting is based on merit, you can always put RGS as first choice. If she has higher mother tongue, you can consider Nanyang also, can add a few more bonus points.

Thanks Lizawa. My daughter's HMT is Tamil and got Distinction. But there is no Bonus points for HMT-Tamil. Can you pls suggest the 2nd choice of school. Tks in advance.

My girl scored 267 and thinks of putting RGS as her 1st choice. COP for last year was 266. Do you think she's taking the risk? :? Will NYHS stand a better chance for her?(HCL:Merit. +2=269) Hai ya...headache...

I think she has a good high chance to go to RGS. You can put that as first choice if that is her \"dream school\". Then put NYGH as 2nd choice.
