:congrats: So his score is actually 256+3...which is 259. He can apply to ip schools. Go read booklet 2 for cutoff points and list yr choices from there.

You can try river valley. 256 + 3 =259
Can even try HCI , (259 was the cut-off last year) but this year may be higher??? -
My child wants to get into HCI , what is the chance of going in ?

My boy also get 259 (257 +2) & also deciding whether to try HCI. We went to the open-hse this afternoon and we're leaving the decision to him to choose HCI or VS. Anyway the posting goes by the t-score irregardless of whether choice 1-6. So, if yr boy is keen in HCI, no harm putting it as a 1st choice cos' you will not loose out in any way. -
My child is currently in an Express stream Sec 1 sch.. Her 2008 PSLE score was 244. She did well in her school's Mid Year and End Year Examinations.
Would it be wise to transfer her to Dunman High for Secondary 2 IP Programme?
Or should she join transfer when she is in Sec 3 to Temasek JC ?

Both are good choices. In my opinion, DHS is a credible institution and \"validated\" by the fact that they produced a President Scholar this year. Opportunity does not knock twice, no harm trying for the DHS first and see if the opportunity to go IP can be secured early. O levels is going to be one stressful exam to compete for fewer available places at top JCs. -

However, DHS offer School-Based Gifted Education IP, while Temesek doesn't.

I don't know how SBGE is organised in DHS, but in most SBGE IP schools, the SBGE classes are meant for GEP students only and a few selected non GEP students. So unless your kid was from GEP in primary school, SBGE will have no impact for her. However, DHS offer School-Based Gifted Education IP, while Temesek doesn't.

Not true, like for HCI, the SBGE is not only meant for GEP pupils, if pupils achieve a average score of 1.5, they can qualify for it. Furthermore, DHS’ scores are higher, much higher.
And the raffles academy too.
The selection are all done at the end of sec 2. -
