Integrated Programme (IP)

ningy:
Saw in another thread that students fr some IP sch don't really need to buy all the text books 'cos the teachers don't teach according to textbooks but have their own lecture notes. may be for some subjects only. well if the teachers don't teach then we as parents need to catch up and guide them -- more stress for us . now the P6 maths is already very difficult... always direct DD1 to my DH 'cos if i can't solve the math problem, very malu leh !
Its not that the teachers don't teach. Its a different teaching approach. If the child cannot understand in class, they can always approach the teachers for more explanations after class or get help from classmates or seniors. When majority of the students in the class cannot understand, they request the teachers for remedial lesson (abt 1/2 hr) after school time, for more explanations. -
thanks daisyt, guess the kids have to grow up in sec sch - the teaching methods will be different. I’m glad to know the teachers even arrange extra lessons to do further explaining/ clarification.

My son’s teacher arranged extra online lessons over weekend to make sure the students have good understanding of the concepts. The classmates are also more than willing to help each other. So don’t worry.

hi all, this is my first post!
wanna find out how different is the integrated programme different from the O level track in terms for content. especially in Math and Science. some mentioned that they go into the JC syllabus? is that true?
I assume all of the students take pure sciences? is triple science a compulsory? and do they have A maths? or is it already integrated into the math syllabus for them?
Lots of questions. Thanks in advance

IP is very different from O Level as they tend to teach faster and have more project work. It is quite possible for Sec 3 or Sec 4 IP students to go into JC syllabus. The details vary from school to school. Most IP schools have some kind of streaming or opportunities for subject selections at Sec 3. Again the options available vary from school to school. In HCI, Biology is an optional subject from Sec 3. I am not sure about other IP schools.hi all, this is my first post!

As wonderm said, different schools have different programmes. In some cases, yes, they do go into JC syllabus. I think most IP schools do pure Science. In Year 3 you get to choose your subject combi so you can choose to do more Humanities or Science subjects.hi all, this is my first post!

Hi there,
Anyone knows of any IP school that gives a choice to students to opt for MT instead of HMT (Higher Chinese) ? I believe my son will struggle in Higher Chinese as he takes normal Chinese.
Any feedback on how hard is HMT in IP ? My son’s Chinese grade is average. Any feedback would be great to determine his education path.
Thank you. -
