Based in what I have seen so far, if you can get 70 to 85 UAS scores, there is no problem to get in NUS, NTU amd SMU. Its a matter of getting the course you want might be an issue. You can also try appeal. Seems that quite many get in local U. Maybe also due to the increase of more quotas for sporean students, i guessing.

My child took this. Its a small cohort. I dont know how well the school did but last year was the last batch for my child’s school. They no longer offer this subject in RV.

RE: All About A Levels
PW, individual presentation plays an important weightage too. If you can’t speak well to present your work, get nervous and speak so soft that cannot be heard, it can be a disaster.

You don’t need straight As to get scholarship. I would say, reasonable results is fine. There are many types of scholarship available in the market. Focus on what you want to study and your career path, try those scholarships relating to your field and there is always opportunities somewhere. Brightsparks website is a good reference site.

Haha, no worries. I have gone through the complaining session. Yes, adapt, but still go approach the teachers. Haha
Hi mummy daisyt :snuggles:daisyt:
We have to understand, RV is a strong Chinese culture school. We all know, Chinese mentality of teaching is very different from western. Chinese like to scold a lot, unkind words, use 激将法, very strict and stern. This is just a way of teaching, not against any person in particular. You cannot compare RV school culture with other schools, they are quite different.
It's so nice to read your post and what you mentioned above is what DD1 been always complaining about!
DD1 just joined the RV family in Jan 2015 and is slowly trying to adapt to the culture and the teaching systems. Yes, most times in the evening when I am back home or on the back home, she will call me on the mobile and start her \"complaining session\". I try many times to explain patiently that teachers have their ways of teachings so she just has to learn to adapt to it, just like all her other seniors been gone through.
I must say my girl is a bit 小姐 type so we always tease that she has to go through all these \"hardship\" -

Hi Daisyt, how time flies & your girl has graduated. She must have done well. :rahrah:
Hi justsay, reasonable, as per her expectation.
Just to mention another point, if you happen to meet a teacher you think not teaching well, you dont understand his/her lesson, dont panic. Book the teacher for one to one consultation. Some teachers might not be good in class but explain better one to one. When near to prelim time, you can also consult other teachers (not your subject teacher), everyone is very willing to help.
Just approach the teachers, don't stop there when you cannot get hold of them once or twice. Keep trying, keep booking, keep asking. Dont be afraid, they are all very willing to help.

Hi all, i am back! Tell your child try to relax n dont be too stress. Have a good thought in what you want to study in uni and what career you want before choosing subjs combi for A lvl. Interest is very important. You would naturally do well if you have the interest. Approach the teachers if u need help. Most of the teachers are very very helpful and go beyond their scope to help. The non teaching staffs also give great support to the students and they are very caring. Ultimately I still think interest in the subjects is very important. Dont be upset if your child choose wierd combinations or non standard subjects. Talk to them a out the future path of their choice and if they are still very sure what they want, suppprt them. The school take it very seriously when come to choosing A lvl subjs combi. They really go all the way to make sure all students get the combi they want. Applause that!
